As we enter the final few weeks of the 2020/2021 school year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on all of the events and celebrations we have had over the past few months.
Recently, we celebrated National Volunteer Week from April 24-30, 2022 and the committee acknowledged and thanked our dedicated recipients of the 2022-2023 Distinguished Catholic Volunteer Awards. I want to personally thank all the recipients for their contributions to their school communities. We love our volunteers!
We also held two virtual family events with Mad Science in April and May 2022. These STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) workshops were highly requested from the DCPIC parent/guardian survey last spring. These engaging, fun workshops were attending by over 600 families!
The Annual DCPIC Parent/Guardian Survey has been distributed, and further information can be found in an article below. The results of the survey will help the committee determine strategic directions for the 2022-2023 school year.
On behalf of DCPIC, I want to thank all parents, guardians and caregivers for their continued partnership. Our Catholic School Councils have been continuing to engage with their school communities in new and creative ways.
I hope that you all have a safe, healthy and happy summer! DCPIC is looking forward to sharing new resources, events and activities with families in the fall.

The Durham Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (DCPIC) is conducting a parent/guardian survey that will assist in setting the committee’s direction for the 2022/2023 school year.
We want to hear from you!
We welcome input from parents, guardians and caregivers. The survey consists of six questions and will take approximately 5 minutes to complete.
The survey will remain open until Friday, June 3, 2022.

Save the Date! DCPIC Faith Formation is organizing a virtual make and take craft night to celebrate the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This virtual event will take place on Zoom on Thursday, June 23, 2022.

Virtual Family Workshops with Mad Science |

On March 31 and May 11, 2022, the Durham Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (DCPIC) provided the opportunity for our younger students and their families to participate in a virtual show featuring Mad Science. Mad Science presented their "Crazy Concoctions" and "Fire and Ice" show and workshop.
Each of these shows focused on science and explored different scientific principles. Families were able to participate in hands-on scientific experiments at home - encouraging a love and understanding of science while being entertaining at the same time.
We had an overwhelming success with over 600 families participating in these programs. We continue to look for new and innovative ways to include families in the education of their children and look forward to 2022-2023 when we can do this again!

Let's Celebrate the Sacred Heart of Jesus in June! |
The Sacred Heart of Jesus represents the love Jesus has for us and the suffering he endured by dying for our sins.
Symbolism: The Sacred Heart has flames coming out of it because Jesus’ heart is burning with love for us. The cross and the crown of thorns (like he wore during his crucifixion) represent his suffering and how he died for our sins. The rays of light coming from the heart remind us that Jesus is the Light of the World
