As we continue to celebrate our Community of Faith, DCPIC remains committed to providing opportunities for parent engagement across our Board.
During the month of February, we like many organizations across the country, celebrate Black History Month. As a Catholic learning community, we are committed to promoting equity and inclusion in all our schools and workplaces by recognizing the diverse backgrounds of all members of our community.
As the Lenten Season is beginning with Ash Wednesday this coming week on March 2, 2022, I invite your family to participate in our family Lenten craft activities. March 2, 2022 marks the start of Lent with Ash Wednesday. This year, DCDSB's Faith department has created an online Lenten calendar for students and families to follow and complete daily activities. Visit the online Lenten Calendar here.
To support this initiative, DCPIC has compiled Lenten activities for families including craft activities that use materials found in your home, printable colouring pages, printable Easter word search and links to resources and activities for families.

Virtual Family STEM Workshop: Mad Science "Crazy Concoctions" |

DCPIC would like to invite families to save the date for a virtual family STEM workshop and show with Mad Science. This event will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. Advance registration is required and will open on March 21, 2022.
Mad Science Crazy Concoctions Show:
Families are welcomed to register for this entertaining, educational and interactive science show! Children will be blown away by the Mad Scientist's demonstrations of different types of chemical reactions . There will also be a hands-on activity using items found around the house!
We will share the registration link with families on Monday, March 21, 2022. Please note that the registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis up to a maximum of 300 families.

It is the dedication and commitment of our parent and community volunteers which strongly contributes to the success and achievement of our students, while working to strengthen our Catholic communities through a positive, educational environment.
Each year the Durham Catholic Parent Involvement Committee and the Durham Catholic District School Board come together in April to celebrate and thank our volunteers for their countless hours helping our schools, fundraising and/or sitting on Board-wide committees.
The 2021-2022 Distinguished Catholic Volunteer Awards will be a YouTube premiere event on Saturday, April 24, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. We invite you to join us in recognizing and celebrating our volunteers!

Black Mental Health Day - March 7, 2022 |
March 7, 2022 marks the third annual Black Mental Health Day, recognized by communities across Ontario. On Black Mental Health Day, we are called to recognize the ongoing impact on mental health that results from experiences of anti-Black racism. It is also a day to raise awareness of the specific mental health needs of Black communities across Ontario.
This year, DCDSB invites families to attend a Zoom live event on March 7, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. Natalie Haynes, Registered Psychotherapist,
Training Consultant and Speaker will be offering I Think, Therefore I Am.

Natalie Haynes Biography
Natalie began her own search for deeper meaning and understanding over 20 years ago. Due to the messages she heard growing up, Natalie had difficulty being in her own skin, resulting in anxiety and a tumultuous relationship with herself. Natalie became a therapist because she was a client. With curiosity and courage, she developed a new relationship with herself and a passion for psychotherapy.
Natalie brings this passion to her work and is committed to being a guide for others who want clarity, awareness and to know what gets in the way of accepting who they are. Natalie’s intention is to help people find permission and the courage to be who they already are.
