Botanist & Barrel
Botanist & Barrel crafts real southern ciders, sours, and dry fruit wines. We are the Souths only natural cidery focused on spontaneous and wild cultures. We craft healthy adult lifestyle beverages for any occasion. We support our local farmers using local sustainably and organically sourced fruits, including blueberries, apples and more from our no spray estate farm. Only tree ripened apples are used in our ciders with a focus on traditional southern heritage cider apples.

All of our ciders and wines contain little to no residual sugar and are low calorie. As an experimental winery we have almost no rules with the exceptions being we never add additives like sulfites and we do not fine, filter or pasteurize any of our ciders or wines.

Our newest releases you’ll find at market this week are:
Chai of the Tiger

This new batch of our collaboration cider with Asheville Tea Company’s Chocolate Habanero Chai tea blend is perfectly spicy to warm your soul during this unpredictable winter.

Pink is a Feeling
Out just in time for Valentine’s Day. This special cider blend is aged on the skins of 4 different grapes, chambourcin, noble, carlos & magnolia to make a beautiful pink cider/wine hybrid.

By the Brook Tempeh
By The Brook Tempeh will be at Saturday’s farmers’ market!

We specialize in non-soy, artisan blends of legumes, peas, lentils, and seeds to create a well-balanced and highly digestible plant protein with a fantastic texture and versatile flavor.

By The Brook Tempeh is based in Saxapahaw, created by fermentation enthusiast Taylor Westbrook. Our North Star is to contribute to a sustainable future by reciprocating our local food systems, supporting the human microbiome, and elevating accessibility through relationships. Along the way, we’d also like to normalize plant-based proteins for all diets, including meat-eaters, by offering an appealing product in its own right, not merely as an alternative.

This week we'll be stocked up with all of our signature blends. As well as our special Taurus blend, Chickpeas & Sea Island Red Pea. Plan on our Carolina Gold, Moroccan and Miso burgers as this weeks burger specials and our very popular tempeh Chorizo. Come say hi!

Catbriar Farm
We will bring sweet potatoes, kale, sourdough bread, and prepared soups.
See you March 19!

Graham and Sara Broadwell

This will be Catbriar's last week at market! We are so grateful to Sara and Graham for helping to nourish and feed the DFM community! Please join us in sending them off with well wishes and much appreciation for their many years of dedication and caring contribution to this amazing community!!!
Celebrity Dairy
We offer a selection of goats milk items handcrafted with love in Siler City, NC! At our booth you'll find a rainbow of flavors displaying our spreadable cheeses, nestled in among our pure chevrè, aged bloomy rind cheeses, yogurts, gelato, fudge, & even soaps. As NC's pioneer farmstead goat dairy, we've been treating all our goats like celebrities since 1991 and strive to do the same for our customers! Help us limit contact and keep each other safe during market transactions by placing pre-orders through our website, https://celebritydairy.com/preorder/.
Chapel Hill Creamery
Farmhouse Cheese We have creamy Carolina Moon, Ricotta, a well aged Thunder Mt. Swiss, tangy Dairyland Farmers, Hot Farmers, a little Paneer, YoYo our version of an unsweetened yogurt, pungent Danziger, savory Hickory Grove, and Calvander (our Asiago style). Calvander can be added to pasta or served with a glass of red wine, add Swiss to a quiche, and make the world's best grilled cheese sandwich with Hickory Grove.
Pastured Beef We have brisket, some steaks, chuck roasts, ground beef or ground round, and beef shanks. Our herd is Animal Welfare Approved, pasture raised, and known for its flavor.
Whey Fed Pork Whey is a byproduct of cheesemaking, and can either be a disposal problem or a resource. Raising heritage-breed pigs on nutritious whey contributes to our whole farm sustainability. We're modeling, on a small scale, a system from Italy - the region that makes Parmesan Reggiano also produces prosciutto from whey fed pigs. Customers praise the flavor and texture of our whey fed pork cuts and enjoy the sausage which is made with the hams (not just the trimmings) and spices we’ve chosen. We have Pork Chops, Smoked Ham Hocks, ground pork, and mild and hot sausages.
Thanks for supporting the market and local farms.

         ** FARM NEWS:
Dear Friend and Ace Farm helper, Mario, has returned to Mexico for several weeks for much needed rest and to visit with his family. The farm will soon be in "high gear" harvesting many fruits and vegetables during April and May.  Tomas and I are trying to keep everything watered, fed, birthed, covered with row covers... just living and growing... until Mario returns.

This Saturday is also market helper, Sofia's, last Saturday with us at the Durham Farmers Market. Like our other Italian friend, Francesco, Sofia will be returning to her home country of Italy to continue her work with agricultural research, etc. She will be dearly missed by us and our customers. We hope they both return for visits!

Many of you have asked for a VISIT to our farm, so mark your calendar for Sunday, May 15th from 10:00 a.m. -- 6:00 p.m.! We will offer a walk around the farmhouse and Century old barns, describing the old commisonary and wellhouse, hen house, smoke house, Mule barn, Seed barn, and more. You will be able to drive down the road to the greenhouse and organic vegetable fields. Bring your cooler and stock up on organic ripe strawberries and asparagus along with meats.
'Brats on a bun" will be served for lunch if you like to eat lunch on the premises. We will be one stop on the "Women in Ag: Local Foods Tour" this day... so plan to visit other farms in Franklin County also on May 15th. Details coming... There is no charge to participate in the tour and visit the eight farms on the tour.

The 7th Annual Dinner in the Meadow will be BACK this year, Sunday, September 11th, in the hay field across from the homeplace. The link to purchase your FARM FEAST tickets will be live soon, www.dinnerinthemeadow.org. Tickets will be $135 each; At least 12 top notch chefs will be preparing wonderful dishes sourcing local foods (meats and veggies); local breads, cheeses, beers, wine, cocktails, live and silent auctions; all to provide a $5K grant to a small farmer in the region; a youth ag scholarship; and a scholarship to a farmer to attend the 2022 CFSA conference in November!  Buy your tickets early.
