Fruchtenicht Honey

What is man that he may know number, and what is number that he may know of it? We could ask this question of the lowly honey bees because they embrace a great many large numbers. First of all, a strong hive may contain 60,000 adult bees. They are organized into specialized work parties by age, live only six weeks, working themselves to death in their last two weeks of life.

They beat their remarkable wings about 220 times per second and can rotate (feather) allowing them to hover. They fly at about 15 mph, faster than most humans unless we consider Usain Bolt at 27 mph, but bees can persist for up to six miles (actually may need to stop for an occasional rest).

Dr Eva Crane researched the energetics of flight and determined that they could achieve about 30 million miles per gallon of honey. In one study, researchers determined that if a single bee were responsible for producing a pound of honey, it might have to visit 200,000 clover florets and fly seven times around the world. And they can count to five.

Isaac's Bagels

We are bringing hand-rolled, kettle-boiled bagels to the market.

Get a half dozen, dozen, or just a single. We'll also have cream cheese by the tub: plain, dill scallion, burnt jalapeño, fig honey, and pickle.

Red Drum Roasters

We are thrilled for our second market this Saturday.

Swiss is full of nutty, slightly sweet flavors with a smooth texture; it makes a delicious ham and cheese sandwich or appetizer with new crop apples.

Sarah's House of Clay and Quilts!

I’m reaching into stock piles of rarely seen pieces while I figure out kiln repair…

I loaded my glaze kiln two weeks ago, in hopes of bringing new pots two Saturdays ago. Oh, woe is me! My kiln would not stay lit. Is it the thermocouple? The solenoid? I can’t budge the bolts to find out. So the kiln sits, loaded, waiting for repair.

Fortunately, I have lots of pots in stock. I’ll bring a colorful variety of functional pottery to market. Sparkle your life with unique wares.

Special orders welcome. I’d love to fulfill your special requests - soon as my kiln is firing again!

QUILTS - If one of my quilts catches your fancy, know it’s the only one exactly like it ever.

CAMPS - the final 4-years begin

I’ve shared my studio with children for the past 27 years, offering teacher workday and school holiday camps as well as week-long summer camps. I believe I have four more years of camp energy in me.

Let me know when your child would like to spend the day in the studio with me. I’d love to share my enthusiasm for mud!

This Week: Whole Wheat Levain; Country Loaves; Hot Cross Buns

About Ninth Street Bakery: Determined to change the bread landscape, Ninth Street Bakery was founded by two brothers in 1981 fresh from a stint baking at the Tassajara Zen Center with monk Ed Espe Brown. They brought with them recipes for wholegrain goodness and a mind for doing good works in Durham. Known by many for its seeded sliced pan loaves, NSB now has crusty artisan bread products that burst with the flavors of natural levain, and flaky pastries that slow rise to perfection. We have a full service café, as well as a robust wholesale program that covers the Triad from Greensboro to Raleigh, Durham to Chapel Hill and Carrboro. We give back to the community via our Bakery- and donor-supported Durham Neighbors program, an in-house experiment in Universal Basic Income whereby we Cashapp 100+ low-income local families every month $50 which goes to much-needed groceries, utility bills, or diapers. We are psyched to be now an official member of the Durham Farmer’s Market, joining an illustrious crew of artisans and purveyors who are dedicated to local, independent, small business, and Southern gastronomical culture. Harland's Creek Farm

Harland's Creek Farm is committed to the health of the earth and its people. Water and soil, sun and warmth, seeds, animals, and plants-the essential ingredients-combined with work and planning allow us to feed people.

Loaf

Located in the heart of downtown Durham, NC, Loaf focuses on hearth baked sourdough breads and pastries. What started out of a backyard brick oven, as a hobby to share with friends and neighbors, very quickly grew to a stall at the Downtown Durham Farmers Market, and settled as a brick and mortar shop in 2011. Throughout the years Loaf has expanded it's offerings, and partnered with local growers, and makers to provide you with as many seasonal treats from right here in the NC Triangle.

Hurtgen Meadows

We will have lettuce, squash, classic and mini eggplant, potatoes, bell, shishito and hot peppers, onions, garlic and jams.

SPECIAL REQUEST: As always, we are happy to have any 8 ounce glass jam jars and metal rings you have been collecting as we can reuse them. Thank you!

Celebrity Dairy

Dearest Goat Cheese Lovers,

Try our French kiss log. Here we have our French Kiss with tomato, garlic and onion roasted in a lavender, basil, fennel and tarragon olive oil. Topped with balsamic reduction.

We have a selection of goats milk items handcrafted with love in Siler City, NC! At our booth you'll find a rainbow of flavors displaying our spreadable cheeses, nestled in among our pure chevrè, aged bloomy rind cheeses, yogurts, gelato, fudge, and even soaps. As NC's pioneer farmstead goat dairy, we've been treating all our goats like celebrities since 1991, and strive to do the same for our customers! Help us limit contact and keep each other safe during market transactions by placing pre-orders through our website, https://celebritydairy.com/preorder

Spreadable flavor for September: Orange Marmalade

Lots of love from your cheese-makers,

Elizabeth, Monica, Kelly, Ina & the Goats

Lyon Farm

We are a family owned and operated fruit and vegetable farm. Whether it is pre-picked items to shop for or pick your own berries, we offer a variety of produce for everyone's needs. Open seasonally during the summer months.

Botanist & Barrel

Botanist & Barrel crafts real southern ciders, sours, and dry fruit wines. We are the Souths only natural cidery focused on spontaneous and wild cultures. We craft healthy adult lifestyle beverages for any occasion. We support our local farmers using local sustainably and organically sourced fruits, including blueberries, apples and more from our no spray estate farm. Only tree ripened apples are used in our ciders with a focus on traditional southern heritage cider apples.

All of our ciders and wines contain little to no residual sugar and are low calorie. As an experimental winery we have almost no rules with the exceptions being we never add additives like sulfites and we do not fine, filter or pasteurize any of our ciders or wines.
