Improvements are on the way for Duval Nature Park

The City of Gainesville's Wild Spaces & Public Places Department and the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs are excited to announce upcoming improvements at Duval Nature Park, 610 NE 24th Street. The project is expected to begin on Feb. 10 and extend through the summer.

The planned enhancements include:

·        A new walking trail around the existing stormwater pond at the eastern end of the park and a pedestrian entrance connecting the neighborhood to the north

·        A new playground

·        A new grill and water fountain located near the existing pavilion

·        New signage throughout the park

·        Stormwater improvements at the northwest corner of the park

AKEA Inc. was awarded the contract for these improvements through a competitive bidding process for a total of $237,000. Funding for this project comes from the Wild Spaces and Public Places half-cent sales tax.
