The 19th Annual Festival of Trees: Joy of the Holidays

The Festival of Trees at the Saco Museum is underway! Thanks to our generous sponsors, volunteers and local businesses, The Festival of Trees has become one of the premier Holiday events in Southern Maine. Come vote for your favorite tree and try your luck at our various raffle prizes. Bid in the silent auction for locally crafted items featured on our Artist Tree. You could win a tree, gift certificates, dinners, local crafts, sports events tickets, local services and more! Raffle tickets are $5 for 3 tickets. Winning tickets will be drawn on Thursday, December 14th at 4 pm. All raffle and sale proceeds benefit the community programming efforts of the Dyer Library/Saco Museum. The Festival of Trees is free to the public. Several special events will also be featured so please mark your calendars:



CHILDREN'S CRAFT DAY, Saturday, December 9th, 9:30 am - 12:00 pm 

Free event at the Dyer Library.


VISIT WITH SANTA CLAUSSunday, December 10th, 12:30 pm - 3 pm 

Free event at the Saco Museum.


FINAL RAFFLE DAY, Winners will be drawn on Thursday, December 14th at 4 pm. Art Tree Silent Auction will also close at 4pm.

Poinsettia Theorem Workshop

Thursday, Dec. 14th, 6 p.m.

Are you looking for a fun holiday project or a last-minute Christmas gift for a friend? Join us in the Deering Room and create your own little work of art. Using the traditional theorem technique and pre-cut stencils, apply oil paints onto velvety velour board. All materials supplied, even the frame! This workshop is offered free of charge by the Stevens Plains Chapter, Historical Society of Early American Decoration, Inc, Biddeford.

Children's Library Programs

Monday, Dec. 4th, 3 p.m. - Holiday Spectacular. Mad Science is going to share the holiday season with you! You won't believe your eyes as you try to determine if what you're seeing is magic or science. Don't worry, we'll explain it all as we use our indoor fireworks to create a festival of lights and share our "special ice", and no-melt snow shipped straight from the North Pole.


Tuesdays, Dec. 5th, 12th, 19th, 10:30 a.m. - Junior Engineers. Storytime and STEM for ages 3-5 (but all are welcome) Feel free to come when you can during the timeslot! Special guest reader, Janine P. Salevsky, author of A Princess Heart, on 12/5.


Wednesdays, Dec. 6th, 13th, 20th, 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. - LEGO Challenge for all ages. A new building challenge every week! 


Thursdays, Dec. 7th, 14th, 21st, 10:30 a.m. - Romp and Rhyme Storytime. Songs, rhyme and stories followed by free play time. 


Thursdays, Dec. 7th, 14th, 21st, 3:30 p.m. - Pokémon Club. Participants can drop in, get matched up, or if new to the card game, can learn how to play! No sign up required, just drop in!


Thursday, Dec. 21st, 2:30 p.m. - Crafternoon. We have a monthly Crafternoon session every Third Thursday of the month in the Deering Room.


Fridays, Dec. 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 10:30 a.m. - Wee Readers. Baby story time with songs, bouncing and more! 

Dyer Library Book Club

Thursday, February 1st, 4 p.m.

The next book up for discussion for the Dyer Library Book Club will be This Tender Land by William Kent Kreuger. We will meet in the Periodicals Room (where the magazine racks are) on Feb. 1st at 4pm for our book discussion. Contact Kat at the Front Desk for more details and a copy of the book to borrow.

Socks for Seniors

We are proud to be a designated donation location for Socks for Seniors! All donations will be picked up on December 15th. Collection box is by the front desk.
