Water Resiliency Projects

E. 24th Pipeline Project

September 30, 2025

Dear Neighbor,

EWEB is replacing water distribution mains and services on E. 24th Ave. from Miami Ln. to Agate St. Pipelines on one block of Miami Ln. from 24th Ave. to 25th Ave. and one block on Onyx St. from 24th Ave. to 23rd Ave. will also be replaced.

This project will upgrade pipes originally constructed in 1926 with larger diameter pipes to increase flow for fire protection and provide greater reliability.

From October through December, 2025, expect construction activity and intermittent traffic impacts, including detours, sidewalk and bike lane closures in this area.

Estimated Timeframe

October - December, 2025

Traffic Impacts

EWEB crews will keep one lane open with flaggers to direct traffic. Neighbors will still be able to access their street and homes. If crews need to shut off your water or block your driveway to complete work, they will notify neighbors and provide additional information ahead of time.

For everyone’s safety, please observe all posted traffic controls, parking restrictions, and detours. Cyclists and pedestrians should take extra care to follow traffic and any closure signage.

Neighborhood Impacts

Construction activity will create noise, vibration, dust, and may disrupt normal neighborhood activity. Work will typically begin at 7:00 a.m. and conclude by 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

From This to That: What Happens When We Replace Pipes

When EWEB replaces distribution pipes, we improve what is put back in the ground. Larger pipes enable increased flow for fire protection, and the ductile iron material ensures that the pipes are strong, durable, and have a long lifespan – estimated to be over 100 years!

Coordination with the City of Eugene

The E. 24th Ave. pipeline project is in coordination with a City of Eugene repaving project to address pavement conditions and widen bike lanes. The partnership reduces the costs for both the City of Eugene and EWEB and minimizes traffic impacts for the community.
