Teacher Highlight

Monica Mayeaux Rau 08' earned a Bachelor of Music Education from Loyola University New Orleans in 2012. After graduating, she taught private music lessons in the New Orleans area to children ages 5-17.

Since relocating to Houma, she has become a licensed Kindermusik educator. She is currently in her 4th year teaching general music and band at St. Genevieve Elementary. This is her 2nd year as the assistant band director at E. D. White Catholic High School. Rau teaches pre-k music all the way to high school band classes every day. She is also the music ministry moderator at E. D. White and teaches music once a week to the E. D. White CARES students.

"God points you in the direction he wants you to go. Everything truly happens for a reason. I'm still in awe that I'm now teaching the same band that made me who I am today. Mr. Tim Robichaux was an outstanding band director and I've learned so much from him. I hope and pray that I can influence these kids as much as he's influenced me to do what I love," said Rau.

She is married to Patrick James Rau and they have a baby girl, Alyssa Marie.
