A mid-week word from Pastor Darren...

…and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.

                                                                       –Romans 5:5

Last Saturday, June 28, APUMC was delighted to host Mission u, a Christ-centered educational program sponsored by the United Women in Faith. With guidance and leadership from Deaconess Clara Ester, the theme of the event was “Practicing Hope Together.”

I was glad for us to be able to stretch ourselves for this purpose. I was especially proud of Ms. Crystal Roberts of providing our meal for the event, for Danny White who came afterward to help us get ready for Sunday, and Rev. Jennifer Porto who helped teach the youth curriculum. Perhaps providentially, it was our first opportunity for Jennifer and I to serve the sacrament together here at Ashland Place!

I look forward to you all meeting Jennifer and Evan this Sunday in worship and at the welcome reception at 10:00.

As for Mission u…was it a sacrifice to come on a Saturday? Yes. Do I think it made a difference in the lives of those who participated? Yes. Was I glad to be a part of it? Yes. Was I counting on the Holy Spirit to carry me through the rest of the weekend? Absolutely.

How was your weekend? Did you witness any lives changed for the better?

I am convinced that God’s love is great fuel, friends.

Where do you see the Spirit at work?

Habitat for Humanity Topgolf Fundraiser

You may not know this, but our own Crystal Roberts and her son AJ have been approved for a Habitat House, and this event will help support them on that journey!

Do you have a green thumb or are you excellent at watering?

If so, we would appreciate your help. We are fortunate to have such beautiful grounds with lush landscaping here at AP, but it's a lot for one person to maintain. If you are willing to help out periodically, please contact the church office.

No experience necessary!
