Rev. Chris Ledyard’s Legacy
There is literally not a day that goes by at GSP that I do not think about Rev. Chris. I wanted some time to pass before we started talking about how we would fill his shoes and live into the various ministries he established or was a major part of here. I believe it is now time to start considering how we will continue what he began.
Animal and grief ministries are major aspects of what Rev. Chris was doing for us and I would like all of you to think about whether you may feel called to be a part of those. Please speak with me about the specifics of either of those ministries if you believe you may have an interest.
For practical reasons however, we need to quickly replace Rev. Chris on the Intercessory Prayer Team. This is how it works: Prayer requests come in from various sources in the church. A couple individuals then review the prayer, determine its suitability, and then reword the request in a pastoral and sensitive manner to send to our prayer group, being careful with confidentialities, etc. These individuals respond to the person requesting prayer with sensitivity, care, and non-anxiousness. Sometimes the prayer request would also be forwarded to the pastoral care team, if some direct action is necessary. Jane Nakazato has already volunteered to be one of these coordinators. Thanks much Jane. We need one other person to work with Jane so that there will always be someone available to field a request. The two person team will share duties as they would prefer to split them up.
This is a position that anyone with a computer can handle at home. My best guess is that you would spend an average of two hours per month disbursing this information. We would really like to fill this position this coming week. If you feel called, or would like more information, please contact me. Thank you all for making us the Beloved Community.
