When it was evening, after sunset, they brought to him all who were ill or possessed by demons. The whole town was gathered at the door. He cured many who were sick with various diseases, and he drove out many demons, not permitting them to speak because they knew him. - Mk 1:32-34

Dear Parishioners,
You know, there’s “fake news” . . . and then there’s FAKE NEWS! The news report was that on February 2nd Punxsutawney Phil – I’m kind of protective of the poor guy’s reputation since we share a common moniker – saw his shadow and, ergo, we’re in for six more weeks of winter. So, on top of a pandemic, mask mandates, social distancing, vaccine shortages, virus mutations, and a Packers’ meltdown, we have to tack on an additional month and a half of winter blahs? Foul!!! How unfair! Isn’t that adding insult to injury? READ FR. PHIL'S FULL MESSAGE

St. John the Baptist Financial Report - First-half of fiscal year 2020-2021
To say that "budgeting" is a challenge during a pandemic is an understatement. To get a better picture of the state of parish finances, we can compare this year to last. For the first half of the fiscal year (July - December 2020), our envelope and offertory donations are down 11% compared to 2019. Overall parish income is down by only 3% much
in part to generous one-time donations, memorial gifts and our "Bust the Deficit" campaign. We invite you to review our financial report for a complete picture of parish and school finances. We appreciate your prayers and financial investment in our parish now and always! CLICK HERE TO VEW FINANCIL REPORT

Celebrating Catholic Schools
|
|
Dear Parishioners,
We are lucky to learn, pray and grow at St. John the Baptist School, a special environment. This would not be possible without the generous support of people like you, the members of St. John the Baptist Parish. When you support us, you invest in the future of all of our students and the Catholic Church. As we conclude our National Catholic Schools Week, we want to thank you for all you do to help our school. We are grateful for your prayers and contributions, and we appreciate the time and talent you so generously share through your volunteer efforts.
Gratefully,
Students of SJB School

SJB Small Groups - Lent 2021 - This is for you.
|
|
St. John the Baptist is launching a Small Group initiative this Lent and going forward. Small groups can create a deeper sense of community within a parish, a deeper connection and relationship with God, and expand the faith beyond parish walls.
Some parishioners are connected to a small group of some kind already and yet many of us are not. Are you connected? Do you feel like you belong? Are you just going through the motions? How are you deepening your faith?

The Dignity of Work and Rights of Workers
|
The economy must serve people, not the other way around. Work is more than a way to make a living; it is a form of continuing participation in God’s creation. If the dignity of work is to be protected, then the basic rights of workers must be respected--the right to productive work, to decent and fair wages, to the organization and joining of unions, to private property, and to economic initiative.
