Shop Small, Support Local This Holiday Season
We all know that our small business community is struggling to stay alive during this pandemic. Fortunately, there are several ways you can assist these vital businesses in our community and Shop Small Support Local during this Holiday Season.
One way is to visit the Chamber's Business Directory here where you can search for member businesses by type and key word. Another awesome place to consider is the City of Pleasanton's website where you can find locations for businesses that are open using the bluedot technology. Lastly, the Pleasanton Downtown Association is supporting our downtown businesses all season long through their new Shop Small Support Local campaign where participating business can be found here.
It is important to know that every $1 you spend at a small business, $0.67 stays in our community, according to a recent American Express study. Not only are you supporting a small business owner and their family, you are also keeping more dollars in our community so Pleasanton will continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family.
I urge you to consider shopping at the many small businesses in Pleasanton by visiting them in person, purchasing gift cards or shopping online during this holiday season.

Assistance League's Food For Families Program
Five years ago 500 families were in need of help. This year due to COVID-19, the pantry is supporting 1,200 families.
Assistance League's Food for Families Program started by supplying the pantry with basic items, such as flour, oil and sugar every two weeks. We are now shopping and delivering items to the pantry weekly. We also purchase other items as our budget allows.
We don't need to tell you these are difficult times, and it is heart warming to see that we can make a big difference in helping our neighbors in need, especially at this time. It is difficult to keep enough inventory on the pantry shelves to help those in need, even with donations from local businesses.
