Hello Caldwell Baptists!
Tomorrow evening we will be having our Summer Gathering of the Messengers of our Caldwell Baptist Association which will be held at Dudley Shoals Baptist Church at 7 pm. Our meeting will be followed by our Community Services and Missions Fair complete with Ice Cream and lots of your favorite toppings. I hope you all are planning to attend. Our Gathering meetings are open to all church members of our association churches. Duly elected messengers from our association churches are eligible to vote on any items of business, and we encourage messengers to report association happenings to their churches. Of course business is not the only purpose of our meetings. Our Gatherings give us opportunities for fellowship, worship, and to hear reports on what God is doing among our churches in missions, discipleship, church health, and evangelism. Remember, we are 71 churches on mission together; We can do far more together than we can apart!
Praise the Lord for Vacation Bible School. There are several VBS’s happening this week and next week. Just yesterday I heard from Pastor Terry Kale at New Life Baptist that they witnessed six children who put their trust in Jesus Christ for salvation through VBS last week. Last week pastor Steve Parker from Miller Hill reported that a young lady trusted in Christ a few weeks after their One-day Bible School from the seeds of the gospel planted in her heart during VBS. Praise the Lord!!! In our E-Caller newsletter there is a page that has a link to a form for you to report on your Vacation Bible School. Please ask your VBS Director or Pastor to take a moment to fill out this form so that all of our churches can encourage each other by celebrating what the Lord has done through VBS.
Psalm 107:1-2 says, “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! Let the redeemed of the Lord say so.” In four other places throughout the text the psalmist makes a plea for us all to have thankful hearts for God’s goodness - “Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!” Each of these statements follows verses about a people who were disobedient, rebellious, and going through hard times of judgement, but God delivered them when they cried out to Him for deliverance. This psalm ends with, “Whoever is wise will observe these things, and they will understand the lovingkindness of the Lord.” Let us be wise and keep our focus on the Lord, His word, and praising Him. As we focus on God’s goodness and lovingkindness in all that He does in us and through our churches, we will surely find that we are less likely to be self-centered and rebellious, and more likely to see many more of His wonderful works which He loves to do among us. Amen?!! “Let the redeemed of the Lord say so!”
