Lazarus Food Pantry Serves Neighbors through Resourceful Ingenuity
Since the Lazarus Food Pantry at Christ Church, Alexandria, first opened, it has evolved in many ways to meet the changing needs of the church’s neighbors. In early March of 2020, it became clear that their usual pantry, where guests came inside and self-selected the items they needed, was no longer viable. Because of safety concerns for guests and volunteers, they made the difficult decision to close their doors and refer guests instead to other food pantries in the community, not knowing when they would reopen. Diocesan Day of Commitment: Regional Confirmations and Celebrations of Regathering

Saturday, September 18, 2021 | 10:30 a.m.
What: Services of Confirmation at the same time on the same day in four or five locations across the Diocese.
Why: As we emerge from the pandemic, many youth and adults are ready to be Confirmed or Received into The Episcopal Church, or to Reaffirm their baptismal vows. This day offers an opportunity for such candidates and others to gather together to make their vows and to celebrate their adult commitment.

Experience Sacred Ground Anti-Racism Curriculum

The Ministry for Racial Justice and Healing of the Diocese of Virginia invites you to learn about the history of race and racism in America and the impact it has on our world today and engage in meaningful conversation through the Episcopal Church’s Sacred Ground curriculum.
For each session, participants will watch documentaries and read articles to help inform and enlighten them. They will then gather on Zoom for conversation to help them peel away the layers that have contributed to the challenges and divides of the present day—all while grounded in our call to faith, hope, and love.
Join an online cohort with fellow Episcopalians from the Diocese of Virginia and explore this rich curriculum. Two tracks are being offered:

Participants will have the opportunity to improve their understanding, share their insights, and expand their use of Realm through user-focused trainings. TryTank Survey: COVID-19 Impact on the Episcopal Church
TryTank Experimental Lab launched a survey on June 4 to study the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the Episcopal Church. The survey is seeking to understand how clergy and churchgoers of the Episcopal Church in the United States have coped with the COVID-19 pandemic and to solicit their opinions about how this may affect the Church’s future. A spiritual dynamic that is directed towards an adult audience will be combined with plenty of opportunity for fun and fellowship.

In this workshop, we will explore what is a small group, the educational theory that informs how we build disciples through small groups, review strategies and tips for effective leadership of small groups, discuss the role of the community in supporting small group ministry and develop a curriculum for small group ministry within your context.
