February 1, 2021
Mike Barnhouse
Director of Music
Today is February 1, and this is traditionally the month most of us start thinking of ways to show love to others in honor of Valentine’s Day. This year Valentine’s Day will fall on a Sunday. How I wish we could worship together in the sanctuary that Sunday!
Though I am very thankful we can have virtual worship as an alternative, there are some very strong reasons it doesn’t do the job as well as in person worship. A significant part of in person worship is seeing the faces of those around us and being able to feel their presence. Also to hear their voices together as we sing. To see the smiles on their faces. One of the hindrances of mask is all we have left to show any kind of emotion is through our eyes. We need that communication again!
The words said to one another as we gather and as we leave are also very important. We are able to express our love and concern and share the kindnesses Christians offer each other. Looking into the face of someone we know is hurting and offering our heartfelt concern and love. Offering encouragement.
We are told not to forsake the gathering of ourselves together, and we need to be together in church again. I know you are praying for this, and so am I. I miss seeing the Forrest Burdette Family and send love to you all!
