 November 12, 2019

With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching, all of us should be mindful of just how blessed we are. I've said many times that we are the most blessed people on earth. We don't have to be rich or powerful to be blessed. We don't have to have only the finest to be blessed. If we have Jesus in our hearts, that is more than enough to be blessed.
All of us share similar traditions and some not so similar in this season of the year. But, one thing all of us can share in this time is a grateful heart. If you are loved by some you are blessed. If you have food to eat and a roof over your head you are blessed. And, here at Forrest Burdette we are surrounded by people who love us and even prepare a feast on Thanksgiving Day for anyone who wants to share in fellowship and not spend the day alone.
God bless our church family, and may this season fill our hearts with gratitude and joy as we count our blessings one by one.
God Bless!

Operation Christmas Child: Interesting Facts
* 2.8 million children graduated from The Greatest Journey in 2018
* 2 million reported decisions for Christ in 2018.
* In areas where Gospel witness is restricted, specially packed shoebox gifts are packed. These shoeboxes provide a way for believers in restricted areas to share the Gospel in a culturally sensitive way. Over 1 million children in hard-to-reach regions received shoebox gifts in 2018.
Please pray for people to pack boxes as we are in the final week to pack. We are thankful to be a small part in bringing the Gospel to those who have not heard. Return your packed box by this Sunday, November 17.
Churchwide Family Christmas Dinner
Tickets will be on sale starting this Wednesday evening, November 13, for our annual Family Christmas Dinner. This year's dinner will be held on Sunday, December 8, 5:00-6:00 p.m., before the children's presentation of their Christmas musical at 6:30 p.m.  Ticket sales are held between Sunday church services, Wednesday evenings, and in the church office during the week. Get your tickets early! Roasted turkey or smoked ham, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce, rolls, and assorted desserts. $10 per adult; $5 per youth age 4-12; age 3 and under free.
Angel Tree
Look for the Angel Tree in the narthex this Sunday, November 17. It will be decorated with the names of children for whom we are responsible for buying Christmas gifts this year. Instructions and gift wish lists will be available. Deadline: December 15.
Hot Chocolate Packets
Our Uth are accepting donations of individual hot chocolate packets (please, no canisters), to bring to Heart & Hand on December 14. If you would like to contribute a box or more, please see Pastor Jeremy. Many thanks!
Little Free Library
Forrest Burdette now has a Little Free Library, "the world's largest book-sharing movement", located in the grassy area just before the COM covered drive. This project was a collaboration between our Children's & Youth Ministries. A Little Free Library is a "take a book, return a book" free book exchange for all ages. If you have a few gently used books, for children, youth, young adults, or adults, that you think would be a good addition to our little library, please bring them to the church office. Enjoy!
Undie Sundays
Please bring in new, unopened underwear for both children and adults on the Sundays in November. There is a collection basket available in the Narthex. The underwear will go to Heart & Hand which will distribute the undergarments to area schools, homeless and domestic violence shelters, and children who participate in the Heart & Hand Christmas Program.
