 September 30, 2019

In Paul's second letter to Timothy, he wrote to Timothy saying: "But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it." (II Timothy 3:14)
Timothy had been taught from the earliest days of his life. His mother and grandmother were excellent teachers, and then there was Paul. Timothy was well grounded in the faith because he was blessed to be surrounded by people who loved him and taught him many important lessons that would shape his life and ministry.
Who have been the people in your life that have blessed you with lessons that guide your life? Who are the people who pointed you to faith in Christ? As I know Timothy was so grateful for those who blessed him, the next time you say a prayer, give thanks for those who have taught you. Never forget the lessons you have learned, and always remember to give thanks.

God Bless!

Pastor Appreciation Month
The Staff Parish Relations Committee reminds us that October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Please take the time to share your thoughts with Ed and Jeremy during the month.
On October 27, between the 8:30 and 11:00 services, we will be a holding a light reception to recognize the entire staff of Forrest Burdette and our ministers.
Fishing Kits for OCC
We want to include 75 fishing kits in the boys' shoe boxes. Each box will include the following: fishing line (will be cut to 5 yds), sinkers, cork or plastic bobbers, hooks, and lures. These will be sent in medicine containers, so we need donations of larger medicine containers as well as the fishing supplies. A WOW gift would be a foldable fishing pole, although this is not necessary.
Save the Date!
Pastor Ed & Brenda Grant invite the congregation to their farm for a church-wide Pumpkin Carving & Hot Dog Roast on Sunday, October 20th . We will gather at 2:00 p.m., rain or shine! Hot dogs will be served; bring a covered dish to share.
