 October 8, 2018

Yesterday morning at the staff reception Tony Anders said the kindest words to me about the music I play for worship.  It was that I played much more than just notes, but the soul of the music.  The music of the piano is many things for me, but the aspect of the soul is most important.  The pieces I compose or arrange come out of my heart.
This Friday at 7:00 in my studio I will be playing a joint concert with Cathy Oakes who is Vice-President and Director of Artist Relations for Enlightened Piano Radio.  She is a composer, pianist, and a former pastor in the United Methodist Church.  She is a wonderful person and has a great sense of humor, and though she currently lives in the Nashville area, Cathy is a native West Virginian and graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College.
There are about six seats left for the concert.  If you would like to attend please contact me by text: 304-415-1439, or by email:
     Have a blessed day!

It's Shoebox Time!
Take a box from our shoebox Christmas tree if your family can pack for Operation Christmas Child. Each box is a not only a wonderful box of treasured items but more importantly it's a Gospel opportunity for a child.
     Here's how it works:
1) Select items for either a girl or boy ages 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14.
2) Pack a shoebox with a few school supplies, basic hygiene items (no liquids), and toys for the age you chose.
3) There are two options from here:
a. Cut out the boy or girl label and tape to top of box. Include $9 for shipping (cash or check to Samaritan's Purse).
b. Go online to print the label with a tracker number. Tape to top of box. Pay $9 online for shipping, and when it gets to its designated country you'll receive an email saying where your box was delivered.
4) Return box to church sanctuary by November 11.  It will be taken to a drop off center, then sent to Charlotte NC and onto one of 175 countries where a child will receive your gift.
OCC at the Pumpkin Park!
Want to go to Charlotte to pack and send boxes but can't take two days off from work? You can join our regional OCC group to pack 1000 boxes this Saturday, Oct. 13 at Milton Pumpkin Park - 11:00 in the big building. These boxes go to restricted areas. Please RSVP Beth 304.542.0601 if you can go.
OCC Packing Party
Everyone may not be able to pack their own shoebox, but EVERYONE can experience the blessing of being part of a team effort to get boxes with the Gospel in the hands of a child. If you can provide an item for boxes, please take a green slip from the display table in the foyer and bring the item back before the Oct. 27 Party.
