I heard about the Jewish synagogue shooting in Pittsburgh on the radio while Julie and I were driving home Saturday. It is another act of horrific violence. My heart and soul aches after such tragedies, especially when they happen in a holy place of worship, no matter if it is Christian, Jewish, or Muslim. I continue to pray for the healing of our nation, that people will see each other as God's beloved children, not as enemies that must be silenced, that the hate filled rhetoric will cease, and what binds us together as a nation is stronger than what divides us. I hope you will join me in that prayer.
I appreciated Annette Cartwright and Sharon Jones sharing about their recent medical missionary trip to Haiti on Sunday. It is a joy to see Christian hands stretched out in healing ministry and love to those for whom many have forgotten and medical care is not available.
Sunday is All Saints Sunday. We will remember those of our congregation who have died during the past year and entered eternity at both morning services.
"Reaching Farther Together" is the theme of our next step forward to ensure payments on the construction loan that totals only $1.8 million. You have been so faithful to get us to where we are. We are hoping for commitments of $700,000 over a 2 year period. Together, we can do it.

Please contact Jane Gillispie if this is YOU! (304-562-9171)  The Cupboard is in need of canned peas and canned carrots, two items that have been specifically requested from Forrest Burdette. Place donations in the cart in the Narthex.

Operation Christmas Child
In just a few weeks it will be national collection week. Please cover Operation Christmas Child in prayer during this critical time. Pray that God will use OCC as a great encouragement tool in all the local churches sending shoeboxes. Pray that many families will be drawn together in the presence of Christ in their homes as they pack their shoeboxes and pray over them and they sense Jesus is there. Our goal this year is to send 200 boxes because we are blessed to be a blessing!
