 April 1, 2019

I'm counting my blessings this morning! First a beautiful day. I was able to be out of bed by 6:30 and get to the church to practice by 7:00. Practice went well and I'm starting to believe my May 5 concert for Pipesounds will be an enjoyable one both for me and those who listen. That will be a Sunday afternoon concert at 3:00 and very easy for the listeners.
Another blessing is that, because of the nominations of so many friends, I will be performing in Montreal on September 19. My solo piano album "Awakened" is now one of the three nominees for Best Solo Piano album with Enlightened Piano Radio. The awards concert will be in the prestigious Place des Arts which is the largest cultural venue in Canada. The decision as to the recipient of the award will be made by a panel of judges all of whom are pianists.
Another blessing is that I am now scheduled to record a new album in July this year with a release date of early fall. The recording will be done at Piano Haven studio in Sedona, Arizona. I have composed about 20 new solo piano pieces and will record at least a dozen of them.
I am so blessed to have my health! At age 67 I am still going strong and survived the heart scare of 2018 which could have turned out badly. God has been good to me!
Thank you to all of you who have been so supportive of what I do at Forrest Burdette. My prayer is that I can continue to serve with excellence!

Mike Barnhouse, Organist/Accompanist
Nancy Gongola Jepson, 2/3/1933 - 3/29/2019
Christian sympathy is extended to Sheri Brown and family upon the death of her mother and Forrest Burdette member Nancy Jepson. Friends will be received Tuesday, April 2, from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:30 p.m. at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Benwood/McMechen Chapel, McMechen, WV. Interment will follow in Halcyon Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum, Sherrard, WV.
A Lenten Journey of Love
As a spiritual pilgrimage during Lent, you are invited to take a special 6-week journey. You won't need extra clothes, there won't be much travel involved, nor will you have to spend a lot of money. The preparation will be mostly in your spirit.
Fourth Week: The Heart of Love   - Make a list of at least ten people for whom you will pray daily. Include your friends, your enemies, those you don't particularly like. Forgive them if they have wronged you, and ask forgiveness if you have wronged them.
Lenten Bows & Nails: Be sure to take home a purple bow to hang from your lamppost, mailbox, or door to designate your home as a part of the Forrest Burdette family during Lent. Take a nail from the basket at the Connection Center to carry with you as a reminder of Christ's sacrifice during Lent.
Copies of 2019 Upper Room Disciplines Daily Devotional  are available at the Connection Center for $5 each.
