No Worship Services or Activities

 March 16, 2020

Dear Church,
In light of the recommendation of the CDC that groups of fifty or more should not meet during this time, we are cancelling all activities here at Forrest Burdette, including worship, for the next two weeks. I met yesterday with a group of our doctors and medical personnel, and we were prepared to cancel all weekly activities and wanted to continue with worship. But, the news is ever changing, and in light of the CDC's recommendations, we feel it is in the best interest of everyone to cancel our services for the next two weeks. On March 29, we will be meeting again to determine next steps.
For now, I want to encourage all of us to be much in prayer and reach out to your neighbor to offer any help you can give. Never have we experienced a time such as this, but in our weakness God is strong and more than able to meet our needs.
On a good note, your pastors are going to be offering sermons and devotionals that you will be able to watch online. We will let you know the times but will also keep these messages available so you can watch them at your convenience.
God bless all of you. Keep safe, and together, with God's help, we will reach the other side of this most unusual time.
Yours in Christ,
Ed Grant, Senior Pastor
Remember Our Friends
Who Don't Use the Internet
Please reach out to our Forrest Burdette friends who you know do not use the internet to tell them about Pastor Ed's message regarding our two weeks (minimum) of cancelled activities and services. The church office remains open. Please contact us if needed. Thank you!
Community Cupboard Remains Open
As of today (3/16), the Christian Community Cupboard will remain open for its regular service times. They will make some changes with how the food is distributed in order to be cautious, but they are remaining open. In case this situation changes, interested parties should call the Cupboard before coming out: 304-562-9373.
Daily Devotions for the Season of Lent
A Lenten daily devotional was compiled by the Laity of The West Virginia Conference of The United Methodist Church. To download a PDF version of this devotional, or to read each day online, click here. Please meditate on each daily reading, and pray for God's Spirit to direct your life in a special way during this season of Lent.
Results of Our Baby Bottle Boomerang
While we will never know all the results stemming from our recent collection for Women's Choice Pregnancy Center, we do have the financial total: $2,290.39! This amount includes $760.39 in coins alone. Thank you for your generosity.
