 October 28, 2019

As some of you may know I write most the arrangements for the church orchestra. For the first time in many years I took on the project of writing the orchestrations for this year's Christmas cantata. We have now rehearsed four of the seven. It is a joy to do this for the dedicated musicians we have, and I'm able to write for our specific instrumentation.
I could not do this were it not for the opportunities given to me by teachers in my past who gave the privilege of directing and writing for bands and choirs in both my high school years and college years. Fred Batten and Ed Vineyard gave me those opportunities in band and James Baldwin in choir. I am indebted to them both.
This Friday I will be playing a solo piano concert at Glenville State College where a lot of this training was honed. I'm sure it will bring back a flood of memories related to the wonderful training I received there. That education was a blessing that God orchestrated for me.

We thank our church family for your support throughout the years and invite you to join our celebration of this achievement.
Operation Christmas Child
Today we celebrate the work that has been finished to pack boxes as a gift from our church to children in need. In the effort to be prepared for the packing party, we prepared 150 of each item for the box. But God... turned the 150 into 161 boxes! It seemed to multiply in front of us. Praise God- 11 more children who will hear the Gospel upon receiving their box.
Our responsibility is not yet finished, as each box should be funded for shipping at $9/box. We have 3 weeks before the boxes are sent (Nov. 17). Please consider donating for OCC shipping ($9/box) and OCC -The Greatest Journey ($6/Child).
TGJ: Miraculous results have come from The Greatest Journey discipleship program - offered to some children who've received boxes. 4 children every minute come to know the love of Jesus and ask him to be their Lord and Savior! Due to lack of funding, TGJ is not available for all shoebox recipients. We've been challenged to sponsor 161 children in TGJ. Will you prayerfully  consider giving?
Families may pack their own personal box. This is a blessing for your family and a teachable moment to share with your children and grandchildren.  This week, pray for the hearts of individuals who pack a shoebox, that the project would be a blessing to them, as well as the child receiving the gift.
