Dear Epiphany School Families,
The commemoration of
THE
most significant and life-changing event in all of world history is upon us. Over 2,000 years ago an angry mob of city leaders, lawyers, doctors, temple priests, and simple towns-folk tortured and killed an innocent man of about 32 years of age on a scraggly hill outside of Jerusalem. This event literally “rocked the world” and changed salvation history effecting the very lives of the children that we know and love today. Of course, I’m speaking of the suffering, death, and Resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ. To be present during those horrific events and the stunning revelation that the Man just crucified on the hill near our home had disappeared from His tomb and was seen walking around the streets, would have been more than most adults could bear, let alone children. The truth is though, that it did happen and the three days of the sacred Triduum, and the Man who suffered during them, is the very reason that we are here today.
Our children need to know
.
As parents, we must teach our children the glory of Easter
AND
the suffering of Holy Thursday and Good Friday. The temptation we face is to domesticate Easter and celebrate the “bunny”, exclusively. The Easter Bunny is not a bad thing, in fact, he was present every Easter in our home, along with baskets, colored eggs, and lots (lots!) of candy. However, Easter is not only about a bunny. In fact, as a parent and grandma who loves to tell stories and share history, I believe that if there was a bunny present during the Triduum, and he survived the sights that he saw, he would never, ever, let his children and grandchildren forget. Generations would still be sharing what they witnessed long, long ago.
Over the next four days of Easter break, please tell your children about the Man who gives you hope. The Man, Jesus Christ, who has given you, and me, every blessing and has helped us survive every battle. On Easter morning when the suffering is over and we go to Mass to celebrate that Jesus has truly Risen, let’s kneel with our children before the crucifix and thank Him...
for all that He was, all that He is, and all that He will be forever.
God’s blessings to you and your family this Easter.
In Christ,
Ann Coone
, Principal

Epiphany School Honor Roll - Trimester 2
Students in grades 6th - 8th are recognized for many different skills, talents, and gifts throughout the school year; one of these areas is the academic Honor Roll. Academic Honor Roll measures student performance in the core subjects of Religion, Math, Lit/Comp, Science, History and Spanish. There are three levels of Honor Roll, each increasing in skill and academic aptitude. Students who achieve Honor Roll are recognized on their Report Card which becomes part of their permanent record and will be sent to High Schools when the time comes for them to apply. Achieving Honor Roll is an excellent goal for all of our students to work toward and helps develop academic stamina and deepen growth in many of the virtues.
There is a select group of students in grades 6-8 who we would like to draw
special attention to for not only achieving Honor Roll, but for their exceptional
self-management skills. The following lists contain the names of students who
achieved Honor Roll AND did not receiving any Conduct Slips the entire
trimester: no tardies to class, no uniform infractions, and no poor conduct. Congratulations to the following students:
