Blue Christmas Service Saturday
Join us on Saturday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m., for a special service of Hope and Healing.
While Advent is a season of hope and Christmas is a season of joy, not everyone feels hopeful or like celebrating. Grief, illness, aging, depression, loneliness, unemployment, and loss are magnified. Even those who are not struggling with losses may feel the stress of preparations and expectations around Christmas time. This Blue Christmas service hopes to provide a time and place of solace during the often frenetic days surrounding the celebration of Christmas. We come together seeking healing and room to share grief, sadness, loneliness, or confusion when these emotions often feel out of place during the holidays.
If you or someone you know could benefit from a place and a space apart in this special way, please invite others and come to our annual Blue Christmas service this Saturday, December 15 at 7pm.
This Sunday, This Week
This Sunday's Focus
During Advent we will unwrap the gifts of Christmas as we journey through the Advent season. It is our chance to listen to the stories, to remember the true meaning of Christmas, to wait in expectation for the arrival of Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world. The point is not to get rid of the trappings and traditions and celebrations all around us but to take a purposeful journey through them to more deeply experience the gifts of Christmas: hope, love, peace, and joy.

This week you're invited to come and hear words of JOY as we continue the season of Advent in expectation for Christmas.
Live Nativity and Matt Pittman
in Columbus Dispatch Article
Away in a manger are live donkeys, llamas and camels

This time of year, many central Ohio churches get animals from farms and petting zoos to add an air of authenticity -- and a "baa" or a bleat -- to living Nativity scenes.

Mitten Tree

The Social Concerns Team has set up a tree in the Narthex to be decorated with mittens, hats, and scarves for the children in need! The items will be distributed at several Columbus City Schools prior to the students' Christmas break. The last day for donations is Sunday, December 16. Please see Jennifer Parker or Jean Pontious with any questions.

Christmas with the Staff
On December 19 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., the staff and volunteers at Advent will take on your kids! We want to give parents a chance to go shopping, out to eat, sleep or just have some "ME TIME"!
If you child is potty trained and you would like a couple of hours to yourself, please sign up in the Narthex.
Christmas Card

Spread the joy of Christmas and save money! If you are sending a Christmas Card to someone at AdventELC, just deposit your card in the box in the Narthex and the youth will place them on a table in the Narthex in alphabetical order for you to pick up!

Anyone is welcome to share a prayer with Pastor through sitting down and praying on the spot or through written prayer requests on his tablet of paper or things directly messaged to him via social media.
