English Classes for Our Immigrant Neighbors

September 2022

One of the ways the Sisters of Saint Joseph Neighborhood Center provides opportunities for enrichment and empowerment is by providing English classes for our immigrant neighbors. New students are interviewed and tested to determine their class levels. We are happy to announce that 70 students will be beginning classes on September 20th. We have 16 returning students and 54 new students registered.

We are grateful for all our teachers and aides who help us provide a sense of community in our English classes. Teacher training tips were provided in preparation for classes. We are still in need of teachers and aides for our evening classes, Tuesdays or Thursdays from 6:30-8:00. Please contact Sister Clarisa at 856-338-8220 ext. 102 if you are interested in helping. Training is provided.

Saint Joseph Villa

Creating Art

The sisters on the fourth floor at Saint Joseph Villa enjoy their weekly art classes. Not only is it a wonderful time to create and share each other’s company, but the results are truly beautiful works of art.

House Blessing

In my 75 years of religious life, I have never been asked to do a House Blessing until recently. One of my co-workers invited me to bless her newly acquired home. Two other therapists joined me in a blessing ceremony as we moved from room to room and prayed for safety, health, and blessings throughout the years ahead. We were all pleased to respond to her gracious invitation. “Janis” was delighted and in gratitude prepared a lovely luncheon for the occasion.
