Second Sunday of Easter
Almighty and everlasting God, who in the Paschal mystery
established the new covenant of reconciliation: Grant that all
who have been reborn into the fellowship of Christ's Body
may show forth in their lives what they profess by their faith;
through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

As you may have noticed, the Bishop has been busy doing his best to communicate and keep everyone connected online, especially during our most holiest of seasons.
Since COVID-19 took hold with stay-at-home restrictions, he has been releasing regular Monday and Wednesday video messages. These all appear on his message webpage that can be reached
HERE or by clicking on the button above. His most current message always appears on the
Diocese's home page. Messages are also available on the Diocese's social media platforms,
YouTube channel and
Facebook page.
All Holy Week and Easter messages are now housed on a special webpage
HERE (or click on the button below), where we share videos and clips from churches around the Diocese, including our special Holy Week and Easter 2020 video recap (shown in the header). We are thrilled that so many have embraced technology and are using it to worship, fellowship, and continue to grow in faith and spirit!

SUPPORTING ONGOING OUTREACH MINISTRIES
It should be no surprise that with the social distancing and shelter in place restrictions, some of our churches that rely on volunteers to continue their important outreach ministries, are suffering. Churches like St. Elizabeth's and St. Stephen's that are located in the heart of our neediest communities, are especially hard hit.
Please be sure to check with churches in your neighborhood to see if there is some way you may still be able to support their efforts, whether in-person or from home. Of course, your health and safety are of utmost importance, and special care should be taken if you plan to volunteer in person.
We are currently putting together a resource page for outreach ministries and services available in each community during this time of separation. If you know of organizations providing assistance, or if your own church ministries are still operating, please let us know. Provide the service being offered, location, days and hours, contact info, and email to:
news@episcopalhawaii.org.

SHARE YOUR PHOTOS & STORIES
Your Diocesan Communications Design Team is so encouraged by all the creative ways our clergy and lay have embraced new technologies and what it means to be the church.
By closing the doors of our churches, we have blown away the “walls” to become the “living stones” (1 Peter 2:5).
Let’s share what is new and exciting in your congregation, school or camp!
Send us photos (or be creative here too and send us short videos, stories, poems, etc.) of what you and your congregation or organization are doing during this time of separation, and we will post them to celebrate the many wonderful ways the Holy Spirit is at work!
Please also send us a photo(s) of your closed doors and any signs that you have posted about the current condition.
Photos should be clear and at least 1MB in size, in JPEG, PNG or PDF format. Please send them to news@episcopalhawaii.org.

PALAKA FACE MASKS FOR SALE!
Those are not bandits above! That's our own Bishop Fitzpatrick sporting a palaka mask along with Louise Aloy, President of the ECW. Using the left-over fabric from the Diocese's 50th anniversary shirts, both the ECW and St. Elizabeth's crew are offering up these stylish masks for only $4 each. All sales will benefit their outreach ministries. To order yours, mail your checks to:
- ECW Good Shepherd Church, 2140 Main St., Wailuku, HI 96793
- St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church, 720 N. King St., Honolulu, HI 96817
Be sure to note in the memo what it is for. The ECW is waiting for a few more supplies so there could be slight delay.

EYE20 POSTPONED
The triennial Episcopal Youth Event 2020, originally scheduled for this summer, has been postponed. This is a heartbreaker, especially for our seniors who are already missing out on so many senior year activities and sporting events. Organizers are looking into the possibility of rescheduling for 2021 in conjunction with General Convention.

2020 ELECTIONS BY MAIL IN HAWAIʻI
Planning to vote in 2020?
Hawaiʻi is switching to VOTE BY MAIL (VBM), starting this year.
If you did not receive an informational postcard from the Office of Elections in January, chances are you are not on the voter rolls, or have been dropped because they have been unable to deliver to the address on file. If you plan to exercise your right to vote in this extremely consequential year, check your voter registration at
https://olvr.hawaii.gov/
to register, confirm, or update your voter registration address.

One church’s tale of two pandemics, 100 years apart
|
At the height of the influenza pandemic in 1918, the Rev. John Misao Yamazaki stopped holding services at St. Mary’s Japanese Mission, the Episcopal church in Los Angeles he helped found more than a decade prior. Before mandatory quarantines were enacted, Yamazaki began visiting homes to pray for sick children and families.
