The Jack Malitz Levy Award is the highest honor our community bestows upon its leaders. This year marks the tenth presentation of the award since its inception in 1989.

Learn to Read Hebrew

Sundays from 10:00am to 11:00am, beginning on May 24, 2026

In this 10-week course, you will learn the basics of "reading Hebrew" for the purposes of participation in Jewish Prayer and the study of the Hebrew Language.

Rabbinic Stories

Sundays from 11:00am to noon, beginning on May 24, 2026

Join Rabbi David Cantor for an exploration of some of the most important stories told by the rabbis of the Talmuds and Midrashim.

All stories will be fully translated into English - no knowledge of Hebrew (or Aramaic) required.

THIS CLASS WILL BE OFFERED IN PERSON; it is modeled on the selection of stories to be found in Jeffrey L. Rubenstein's Rabbinic Stories, published by the Paulist Press

Prayerbook Hebrew

Wednesdays, from 7:00pm to 8:00pm, beginning on July 8, 2026

The Siddur (prayerbook) is the most widely used book in Jewish life. Although most prayerbooks include an English translation, nothing can replace the immediate experience of reading Hebrew. You already know for to "read" Hebrew: in this 21-week course you will learn how to translate and understand the words you are reading.

Pinchas opens with God’s promise of a “covenant of peace” for the zealot Pinchas, followed by a census. The daughters of Tzelofchad request and receive new laws regarding inheritance. God instructs Moses to prepare Joshua for leadership, and God describes sacrifices brought daily and on special occasions.
