Did You Know? The Chicago Police and Firefighter Training Academy (CPFTA) is a training program for students interested in careers in public safety, law enforcement, criminal justice and fire science. The two-year program recruits and trains up to 125 public and non-public high school students each year. In the fall of 2023, Saint Patrick High School will become the first Catholic high school to offer course credit to students who complete the training and are enrolled in the Law Pathway.

This May, seniors Alex Moroko (PFGA) and Michael Curry (St. Paul of the Cross) will graduate from CPFTA. Moroko, a swimming and water polo captain at St. Pat’s, received preference to sit for the City of Chicago Firefighter/EMT test in December. Curry, who enrolled in additional EMT courses at CPFTA, will be eligible for an internship with the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC), the Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) or a police district.
