Seventh Sunday after the Epiphany
O Lord, you have taught us that without love whatever we
do is worth nothing; Send your Holy Spirit and pour into our
hearts your greatest gift, which is love, the true bond of peace
and of all virtue, without which whoever lives is accounted
dead before you. Grant this for the sake of your only Son
Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy
Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen.

Mark your calendars! Godly Play has Commuter Core Training dates on O'ahu set for April 6, May 4 and June 1. Commuter Core Training enables people to attend one or more of the sessions over a span of time (and even years) instead of committing to a three-day training all at once. All three modules will need to be completed for full training.
The Episcopal Church in Hawai'i sponsors the trainings so there are deep discounts for participants in the Diocese.
Long time trainer and consultant Jenny Wallace is also in the process of updating the status of Godly Play in our churches and expanding the program into the wider community, and would appreciate feedback and input. You can e-mail Jenny at [email protected]. To learn more about Godly Play, visit their website

CHORAL EVENSONG TO CELEBRATE JOHN AND CHARLES WESLEY
|
The Cathedral of St. Andrew's next Choral Evensong will be on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at 5:30 PM in the Cathedral. This lovely service will feature the Cathedral Choir with music by I. Dvoretsky, anthem by Thomas Jarman, arr. Todd Beckham, the Evensong setting by Thomas Morley, and the beloved hymn "Christ whose glory fills the skies" by Charles Wesley.
John Wesley (1703-1791) and his brother Charles (1707-1788) were both priests in the Church of England. They are most commonly known for their hymns, especially the over 6,000 hymns written by Charles. Their strong ministry paved the way for the founding of the Methodist Church after their deaths. In recent times there is a growing appreciation between Anglicans and Methodists for our common heritage.

MARCH 3: WORLD MISSION SUNDAY
|
|
Traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday after Epiphany, this year, World Mission Sunday is celebrated on March 3.
On World Mission Sunday, Episcopalians are invited to focus on the global impact of the Baptismal Covenant’s call to “seek and serve Christ in all persons” (
Book of Common Prayer, p. 305). It is also an opportunity to raise awareness of the many ways in which The Episcopal Church participates in God’s mission around the world.
Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael B. Curry invites the church to observe World Mission Sunday in a video
HERE or click on his image above.
“As Christians, we are called to reach out across borders, across walls, across divides and to always put family first, and our family is the whole of humanity. There are no geographical borders in God’s world, there is only love, and love knows no boundaries,” the Rev. David Copley, Director of Global Partnerships and Mission Personnel said in a sermon posted
HERE.
Currently, Episcopal Church missionaries serve in many international locales, including Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, England, El Salvador, Haiti, Honduras, Hong Kong, Israel/Palestine, Panama, the Philippines, Qatar, Romania, South Africa, and Tanzania.

PRESIDING BISHOP CALLS FOR GOOD FRIDAY OFFERING TO SUPPORT MINISTRY IN ANGLICAN PROVINCE OF JERUSALEM AND MIDDLE EAST
|
|
“The Good Friday Offering of our Church is one way to help connect the love of Christ on the cross with our support of the ongoing ministry of love and compassion carried out by our Anglican sisters and brothers throughout the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East,” Presiding Bishop and Primate Michael Curry wrote to the bishops and clergy of The Episcopal Church. “Whether funding a hospital in Gaza or the West Bank, or an eye clinic in Aden, or women’s programs, or summer camps and leadership training for young people, the Good Friday Offering is making a difference in the lives of so many.”
In his Good Friday letter, Presiding Bishop Curry asks each Bishop and congregation to consider providing assistance for the Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East.
“I believe our partnership with those who keep the faith of Jesus alive in the region, where our Lord walked and began his movement, is a significant aspect of our work as part of the church catholic,” he wrote.
