Fifth Sunday of Easter
Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life: Grant
us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ to be the way,
the truth, and the life, that we may steadfastly follow his
steps in the way that leads to eternal life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

IMPORTANT DIOCESAN POLICIES RECENTLY ADOPTED
Two new policies have been adopted by the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai'i as shown below. Titles are linked to the full document, and can be found on the Diocesan Website under
Resources > Forms & Documents
:
- Conflict of Interest Policy
- Social Media Policy
Please share widely with church members and especially staff and Vestry.

REMINDER ABOUT E-MAIL SCAMS
Although e-mail scams are a continuous irritation, there has been a rash of fraudulent e-mails involving clergy worldwide, including our Bishop and several priests in our Diocese. We don't expect it to go away anytime soon. Please be aware and always double check the originating e-mail address to be sure it's correct (not the name displayed). Although some scams may contain a valid e-mail address, if it is asking for money, gift cards or other personal information, do not respond! When in doubt, double check with that person directly. For more information on online safety, visit the government website
HERE, where you can also report fraudulent schemes.

ANNOUNCING THE LAUNCH OF THE DIOCESE'S DEDICATED NEWS WEBSITE
The Diocese of Hawai'i has launched a separate news website dedicated to the stories and events taking place in our Diocese and the broader Episcopal Church. The website comes after months of discerning more effective ways to communicate stories in a timely manner, without overburdening the main website.
There will be no major change in the way we do the E-News (containing upcoming events and announcements), but there will be a big change in the way we report on events that have taken place (E-Chronicle).
We will post feature stories, photos and links directly on the news website as soon as we receive them (with time for editing and formatting), and will be announced on social media when it is published. You won't need to wait for the E-Chronicle to read about a particular event or featured story!
For those who don't mind waiting, the E-Chronicle will still be going out quarterly, containing all the headlines for the previous three months. Along with a couple lead-in sentences and a photo, headlines will link to the full story on the website. This will avoid the need for scrolling down a seemingly endless issue, and readers will be able to quickly scan for headlines of particular interest to them.
We thank you for your patience during this time of transition. Stories over the past few months have been stalled and the website is still being fine-tuned, but once fully completed, we hope this will enhance communications in the Diocese.
Over the next few months, we welcome your feedback and input so that adjustments can be made. Please e-mail Sybil Nishioka at news@episcopalhawaii.org. Click on the News image above to go there now!

GODLY PLAY TRAINING 2019
REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
|
2019 Godly Play Commuter Core Training on O'ahu has begun and there is one more date remaining. Commuter Core Training enables people to attend one or more of the sessions over a span of time (and even years) instead of committing to a three-day training all at once. All three modules will need to be completed for full training. Click on the final linked June 1 session for more information and to register.
The Episcopal Church in Hawai'i supports Godly Play, and has generously underwritten a portion of the training to help with tuition costs for churches in the Diocese.
Long time trainer and consultant Jenny Wallace is also in the process of updating the status of Godly Play in our churches and expanding the program into the wider community, and would appreciate feedback and input. You can e-mail Jenny at jennywallace02@gmail.com. For more information, visit the Godly Play webpage on the Diocesan website
