Proper 15:
Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace to receive thankfully the fruits of his redeeming work, and to follow daily in the blessed steps of his most holy life; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen.

Safeguarding God's Children Training - Maui
The next Safeguarding God's Children Training session on Maui will be held on Saturday, August 31, at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church parish hall, beginning at 1:00 pm. Space is limited, so register now!
Safeguarding God's Children Training provides participants with the information they need to protect the children they know and care for in their personal lives and the ministries in which they serve. Anyone in a church is encouraged to attend these workshops to increase the awareness of how to watch of warning signs of child abuse. However, Safeguarding God's Children is required of all clergy, Vestry and Bishop's Committee members, anyone (paid or volunteer) who works with children. This includes Sunday school teachers, youth group leaders and preschool and school teachers.
Safeguarding God's Children is to be taken annually, with the first time being an in-person training. Subsequent trainings can be done either in-person or via the diocese's online courses.
For more information on the Maui training, e-mail John Tomoso, or call the Good Shepherd Church office at 808-244-4656.

Diocesan Mutual Ministry Review Continues
Has your church been scheduled?
The Standing Committee has developed a process for a Mutual Ministry Review (MMR) for the Diocese of Hawai'i. Participants in the Diocesan MMR will discuss the spiritual health of the Diocese in the context of the interaction among the bishop, clergy, and laity. The purpose is to build on strength areas and to address areas of concern within the Diocese.
A Diocesan MMR has not been attempted before, so we need the help of all the congregations in the Diocese to present an honest and meaningful look at where we are going as a Diocese. Conversations are being held throughout the Diocese in August, and a number of churches have already completed the process.
Your Rector, Vicar, or Priest-in-Charge and Senior or Bishop's Warden has received information and details on the process, focus groups and topics. Please see the updated list of meetings HERE. If your church has not yet scheduled a Diocesan MMR, clergy or wardens need to e-mail the Standing Commitee ASAP.
