Funeral Services for Lucille (Tamura) Caldwell
Funeral Services for Lucille (Tamura) Caldwell, will be held this Saturday, October 28, 2017, at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 98-939 Moanalua Road, Aiea. Visitation is at 9:00 AM and the service will begin at 10:00 AM.
Before retiring, Lucille was on the staff of the Office of the Bishop where she ultimately served as the Diocesan Program Officer under Bishop Chang. Before joining the Bishop's staff, she was a teacher and administrator at St. Andrew's Priory School. She is survived by her husband, David Caldwell; her daughters, Amy Yonashiro, Patti Nagami and Lisa Tamura-Tanoue; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family requests no flowers. Donations can be made to St. Timothy's or the American Cancer Society.

Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Passing of Queen Lili'uokalani
November 11, 2017, marks the 100th Anniversary of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Lili'uokalani. Churches around the state will be observing this day in myriad ways.
Bishop Fitzpatrick is encouraging all of the churches, schools and missions in the Diocese to join together in the tolling of bells at 8:30 AM, and to conduct observances of meditation, song and prayer appropriate for the day. (See special announcement

STATE CAPITOL COMMUNITY EVENT:
A special community event is planned for the Queen's Statue at the State Capitol at 8:30 AM, on November 11, 2017.
HOLY APOSTLE'S MEMORIAL SERVICE:
There will be a special 100th Memorial Service at Holy Apostle's Episcopal Church in Hilo on this day, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. All are invited to attend.

Why Palestine is Everyone's Moral Issue
The Parish of St. Clement will be hosting a special gathering featuring guest speaker Steven Salaita, author of numerous books and articles on Arab-American studies and the depiction of the Middle East in American Media. He will be giving an overview of modern Palestine-Israel history and why it is one of the most important issues of our time.
The event will take place on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at St. Clement's, 1515 Wilder Avenue in Honolulu, and Middle Eastern pupus will be served. The November 11 Eucharistic Minister/Eucharistic Visitor training taking place at Good Shepherd Episcopal Church in Wailuku, Maui, has been postponed.

Planning Team Applications Being Accepted for Young Adult Festival at General Convention
Applications are now being accepted for planning team members for the General Convention Young Adult Festival, scheduled to run concurrently with the 79th
General Convention of the
Episcopal Church in Austin, TX (Diocese of Texas). The Young Adult Festival will be held July 4-9, 2018 in Austin, TX.
The Young Adult Festival is designed for young adults 18-30 years old to meet peers from across the globe, pray and learn together, engage in the church's legislative process, and help discern God's call for the Episcopal Church. The planning team will develop the elements of the Young Adult Festival, including workshops, speakers, and schedule.
"The planning team will work together to create a framework for young adults from across the church to experience General Convention," explained the Rev. Shannon Kelly, Episcopal Church Officer for Young Adult and Campus Ministries. "With worship, workshops, networking, and housing, the festival makes General Convention accessible and enjoyable for rookies, advocates, and leaders alike."
Planning team members must be 18+ years old (high school graduate) and must be able to attend a planning meeting April 5-8, 2018 as well as be at General Convention July 3-9, 2018 in Austin, TX.

[September 5, 2017] Applications are now being accepted for the 2018
United Thank Offering grants: 10 grants of $2500 for young adults; and 10 grants of $2500 to seminarians.
The focus of the grants is
The Jesus Movement: Evangelism, Reconciliation and Creation Care.
The United Thank Offering is a gratitude ministry of the
Episcopal Church to support innovative mission and ministry in the whole Church. Known worldwide as UTO, the United Thank Offering awards grants for new projects and programs that address innovative approaches to ministries within their communities that meet the stated focus for the year.
Young Adult and Seminarian grants are awarded within the Episcopal Church only.
