Staff Appreciation and PTF Blessing Fund 2020
|
|
Dear MCS Parents,
As a PTF Board, we have been in awe of our teachers, aides and staff during this time of uncertainty in this unprecedented season. Our school year has just been dramatically altered...and while we are all apart in location, our hearts are still intertwined on a daily basis with the love that is being poured out on our children by the Mariners Christian School staff community.
Every year, there are two main ways that PTF shows our appreciation to our MCS teachers, aides and staff members: Staff Appreciation Week and The Blessing Fund. Please see below as to how your family can participate from afar in two special ways to honor our truly spectacular MCS Staff.

Staff Appreciation Week (May 4-8)
|
|
The PTF Board has taken the initiative to lead out this week in the
MCS Weekly Challenge!
We would like to encourage all families to create a
short
video shout out (30 seconds or so) to those faculty and staff that care for your children.
Send it directly to the teacher or staff person as an attachment
(this is different from the other weekly challenges – this is an individual blessing, not a compilation.) We want to do a surprise attack directly to their email so they are loved on throughout the week!

The Blessing Fund (May 1-15)
|
|
The annual Blessing Fund is a way for MCS families to collectively show our appreciation to our wonderful teachers, aides and staff. Traditionally, it is given to the staff as individual cash gifts “With Love from MCS Parents” during Character Quality Week at the close of school. PTF invites your family to participate. It is totally voluntary, and open to contributions of any size. This year, with all our families learning from home, in efforts to make it as convenient as possible,
we ask that you donate to The Blessing Fund through Venmo

Since we are not on campus to treat our faculty and staff, PTF will be using the allocated budget for Staff Appreciation Week towards the Blessing Fund as well. The Blessing Fund will be open for contributions from May 1 – May 15. PTF thanks you in advance for contributing in this tangible way to honor all our MCS staff for taking such good care of us!

We desire to follow the biblical model of Christian generosity and stewardship
(Acts 2:44-45, Acts 4:32-35)
to support our staff and families during this time in which many are facing financial hardships. That's why we're launching the MCS COVID-19 Relief Fund. This will allow us to provide short-term financial assistance to staff and/or their spouses who are facing wage loss or unemployment, as well as emergency tuition aid to families who have been specifically impacted by COVID-19.
Families can apply for emergency aid in accordance with the school’s established COVID-19 Emergency Tuition Assistance process. Assistance will be awarded based upon demonstrated COVID-19 related need that has led to the inability to continue tuition payments.
To support this fund
and serve the MCS community, we seek donors with the capacity and heart to live out Acts 2.
