-The final day for course changes for spring semester 2023 is Monday, January 30. The level change window is open until March 3, 2023.

-If your student received an “NG” on their report card, this is due to having too many absences last semester to earn credit for the course. The student must complete credit restoration to clear the “NG” and earn the credit. Emails are being sent by Associate Principal Frank to each students’ email to indicate how many hours the student owes to clear the NG. Students can see their Counselor if they have any questions about the process.

Library News
Busy is an understatement! This week we had 25 classes come visit the library for instruction; some of the classes came in for library tours, scavenger hunts on literary devices focusing on poetry, Research for essay writing on the Ukraine-Russia War, and AP Statistics classes came in to check out books and calculate the reading level of various titles in our collection based on random interval statistic sets.
This week our online catalog system went down for 3 days- during those three days we refused to stop check out- so we used old school spreadsheets to keep track of check outs and check ins! During this time, we checked out 394 books in 1 week! We are so happy to have the kids back in the library.
Some events and collaborations to look forward to are:
3D printing training open to all students featuring TinkerCad during the week of 2/13-2/17. The students will learn how to use TinkerCad, an autocad design program, to create their own designs and find out the basics of using the Makerbot 3D printer we have available in the Makerspace.
During the month of March the library will be collaborating with the BSU (Black Student Union) club and AAA (African American Association) club to create Black History month displays and activities for students.
The library will also be promoting the W.R.I.T.E club's upcoming author visits. On 2/3, during Cardinal Hour, the WRITE club will be hosting Shaun David Hutchinson, an award winning author of 12+ YA titles featuring different genres and realistic queer characters. on 2/7, during Cardinal Hour, the WRITE Club will be hosting Talia Hibbert, previously writing mostly Adult or New Adult books, to talk about her brand new YA title, Highly Suspicious and Unfairly Cute.
If you, your teacher, or your club, would like to collaborate with Ms. Carpenter and the library please reach out to Ms. Carpenter via email, kaitlyn.carpenter@houstonisd.org
