This Sunday

The Rev. Dr. Donald Fishburne

Popular preacher and teacher, The Rev. Dr. Donald Fishburne will be with us this Sunday, February 3.  At 9:15am in the adult class, The Rector's Forum, he will be teaching on The Way of Love and how we can learn to reflect on Scripture, especially through pilgrimages. Then he will be preaching at 10:30am. Dr. Fishburne is also leading a Vestry and staff retreat this weekend and I ask that you keep that in your prayers. - Cynthia Taylor+

Annual Meeting Report
At our annual meeting last Sunday, two vestry members were re-elected into office - David Blake and Fred Hoogland.  Our delegates to the convention were selected - Pam Vanscoy and Robert Spessert, with Jeanette James serving as an alternate.

This is a national, one day focus on hunger that is scheduled on Super Bowl Sunday, February 3. On this day, youth across the nation raise money for Food Banks. Put at least $1 in the soup pot and bring non-perishable food. And thank you for your support.

Renewal of vows for a Monastic Solitary
On February 10, Jo Rayfield will renew her vows as a monastic solitary.  In the Episcopal Church a solitary's vow is held by the Diocesan Bishop. Jo initially made the three-fold vow of simplicity of life, celibate chastity, and religious obedience in 2014. She renews this  vow annually at the time of the Bishop's visitation. Like other monastics she lives under a rule of daily prayer, study, self-examination, stewardship of resources and much silence. Please pray for her that she may be faithful to her vows.

Food Bank Thank You!

We received a thank you letter from Columbia County Cares Food Bank. In 2018 we gave 1094 pounds of food to the food bank. While we give thanks for that, consider increasing your giving. Food insecurity in Columbia County is more prevalent than we might think.   And now furloughed government workers are having to rely on such gifts.

Gifts for the Christ Child

We have received many thank you notes from the families that were recipients of gifts through our Gifts for the Christ Child program. They will be in the foyer of the church to view.

Thursday in Lent

Join us for a light supper and discussion Thursdays in Lent starting March 14 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. This is open to everybody and is sponsored by the Daughters of the King (DOK). Need a nursery? Let us know at 706-210-1133.
