Chatham Community Food Pantry Summer Appeal
We have a guiding question at our church: how do we make it easy for people to do good in the world? Here's one way! We are so thankful for so many in the greater Chatham/Madison community who have generously supported the Chatham Community Food Pantry and Food Distribution throughout the pandemic. Food Insecurity continues, especially in the summer months. We hope you can share this invitation to help those in need of support.

Family Devotions:
If you are looking for some child-friendly devotionals for your family this summer, click here to find a collection of playlists, each with a Bible reading, video, “things to wonder about,” activities, and prayer on specific themes from faith practices to emotions, or favorite Bible stories. You can use as many and as much of them with your family as you want, as often as you want, to grow in your faith in God and with one another.
Looking for Sunday School Teachers:
We are anticipating resuming in person classes in the fall and will need teachers and facilitators for our kids and youth classes. If you would like to play a part in encouraging the next generation of disciples, contact Karen at or 973.908.4474. Materials are provided, as are priceless moments and the joy of witnessing young hearts and minds growing in Christ and sharing fresh insights.
·        This Sunday, following the team blessing in the service, we will meet for Sensitivity Training in the Asbury Room.
·        Next Sunday, meet in the parking lot at 7.00am for van loading and departure for our week at RISE!!
Our numbers were limited due to COVID protocols this year, but our team’s enthusiasm is unlimited! CUMC’s 2021 RISE team: Anna R, Luke, Sophie, Isaac, David, Owen, Annika, Anna V, Miriam, Eric, and team leaders John Palma, Shelley Rack, Rob Lyon, and Karen Berry.
Our RISE Team is grateful for your support! Thanks to all who have contributed to our 2021 RISE team. From the monetary donations, to the blessing we’ll receive this coming Sunday during the service, to the prayers the week of July 25 as we work to make homes warmer, safer, and drier – your care is encouraging and will help us through when we’re tired and sweaty! We look forward to sharing our stories on August 1.

If you’d like to be part of the greater RISE team without having to put on work gloves or boots, you can still make a donation via the church’s online system here (designate Youth RISE in the memo box) or write a check to CUMC with “Youth RISE” in the memo line and send it to CUMC Youth RISE Team, 460 Main St, Chatham, NJ 07928.

Altar Flower Dedication
The Fall 2021 Calendar is now available on the bulletin board outside Jeff’s office; dedication forms and envelopes are located underneath the calendar. By donating altar flowers on Sunday, you help add the beautiful gift of flowers to our Sanctuary. Cost of donating flowers is $40 check made out to CUMC; please specify Altar Flowers in the memo line.
Donating flowers is a wonderful way to honor, celebrate, or commemorate a special occasion or a loved one. Flower arrangements are created by Chatham’s Sunnywoods Florist; you may choose to take the flowers with you after the 10:00 service or specify to have them donated. Flowers donated are brought to our church members at home or in care facilities. The colorful bouquets not only brightens their day, they offer spiritual support and reminds recipients that they are so very important to our church community. Weekends from September through December are available for 2021. Please note that we will be starting flowers in September and not during the summer. Please reserve your weekend today! Questions, please email Eileen Ruggiero at
