Group Training Apprentices of the Month

Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice - Ben Walmsley

Ben works for our Host Employer Essensa Renovations who have been doing a renovation on a farm in Quindalup. Part of the work they were doing was to build a Bench and a Table for the outdoor entertaining area. There are mature Tasmanian Blue Gums on the property and the owner had cut one down some time ago with the intention of using the timber for the outdoor entertaining area. The pictures show the result of their work which is outstanding. The timbers are spectacular with feature grain throughout and the owners are delighted with the outcome and you can see by the smile on Ben’s face he’s pretty happy about it too.

Engineering Apprentice - Brandon Hadlow

Brandon is one of our 2 ^nd year Boiler Making Apprentices. He is Hosted by COERCO and attends the Apprentice and Traineeship Company, Engineering Trade Training Centre in Halifax for his Apprenticeship studies. Pictured here is Brandon with a Mould for a 17000L Free Standing Cartage Tank that his supervisor Ryan Bristow-Stagg, and he Fabricated over a 4 weeks build time.

Brandon has been involved all the way through the fabrication of the mould including use of a Mig welder, plasma gutter, guillotine, bender, magnetic drill as well as disk and belt sanders.

Now the mould is off to Dalwallinu where the tanks will be formed, Rota moulded and baked from durable, impact resistant, UV stabilised polyethylene for long life.

Fair Work Commission Announces Minimum Wage Increase

On May 30th 2019 the Fair Work Commission announced that the new national minimum wage will be increased by 3% as of 1st July 2019. Apprentices will receive a portion of that increase relevant to their current year/wage level.

ATC will apply the wage increase effective from the first full pay period in July (week ending 9th July 2019). More information will be sent to our active host employers in the coming weeks.

Our 5 Day Safety Representative and 2 day Refresher courses continue to be very popular. Pictured below are our May SHREPS who were an enthusiastic and vibrant group of people.

Computer Training in Bunbury

Combined Team Services (CTS) is pleased to now bring interactive, practical and hands on computer training to Bunbury in partnership with ATI Mirage.

Training will be held at the ATC Skill Centre at 9 Craigie Street, Davenport. More information and a full training calendar is available on the ATI Mirage website.
