2023 Preliminary
Estimate of Taxable Values

In the State of Florida, all Property Appraisers are required to report the estimated taxable values by June 1st to the local taxing authorities such as the Board of County Commissioners, School Board, and municipalities. We have experienced a second (2nd) year of incredible growth in regard to market values and new construction values throughout Martin County.
Young Professionals of Martin County
Thank you to the members of the Young Professionals of Martin County for joining us at our Stuart Office on May 3rd! Chief Deputy Karl Andersson, Director of Tax Roll & Appraisal Services Tyler Steinhauer, and I enjoyed the opportunity to share information about new homebuyers, real estate data along the Treasure Coast, and how to use the tools and resources on our website. If you’d like to come to our Office for a presentation, please call 772-288-5608 or email communityoutreach@pa.martin.fl.us
Damage Collection Training
Thursday May 18, my Office professionals teamed up with the Martin County Building Department for Damage Collection Training. After a hurricane, tropical storm, or tornado, these trained professionals will take photographs using I-pads and Geographic Information Systems software, of damage done to residential properties. The information is then submitted to a live dashboard at the Martin County Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and then off to Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for consideration of relief dollars.

What's Coming Up in June
July 1st Preliminary Tax Roll Certification

Did you know that our July 1st Preliminary Tax Roll Certification kicks off the annual budgeting timeline for your local Government Agencies who rely on ad valorem tax revenue? This is what we call the Preliminary Tax Roll Certification. Certifying this Tax Roll is a multi-step process that begins with transferring large data files and reports to the Florida Department of Revenue. The state audits the roll to ensure the level of assessment and quality of data meet state laws and strict appraisal standards.

Each taxing authority uses this information to determine a proposed millage rates and returns it to our office before August 5th. We then use their proposed millage information on the Notice of Proposed Property Taxes which is mailed to every property owner in mid-August.
