Advent Small Groups start November 29th
All Are Invited to attend one of our 3
Online Advent Small Group Discussions.
During the holy season of Advent we’re delighted to offer an opportunity to grow in faith by being part of a virtual small group. Wherever you may be located, you’re welcome!
We have two topics to chose from this year. Detailed information is below:
Two of our Groups will feature the new book- and video-based study Incarnation: Rediscovering the Meaning of Christmas, by United Methodist pastor Rev. Adam Hamilton.

Online Meeting times are:
  • Sundays 11:00 AM November 29th - December 20th (Facilitated by Janice Szarko and Ron Yarger) To join this group, please email Ron at ryarger@optonline.net

  • Mondays at noon November 30th - December 21st (Facilitated by Associate Pastor Sharon Yarger) To join this group and receive the Zoom Invitation, please contact Pastor Sharon at scyarger@optonline.net

Incarnation books (both print and digital versions) may be purchased by clicking: https://www.cokesbury.com/Incarnation-1-2, or through amazon.com. Questions? Contact Pastor Sharon at the above email address.
Our Second Online Advent Small Group Discussion Topic:
Seeking Jesus, the Advent of
Justice and Peace
Mondays 7:30 PM November 30th -
December 28th on Zoom
(Facilitated by Simpson Seminarian, Alyssa Keifer)
You are invited to join Alyssa and wrestle with a biblical text, ask questions, and engage in small group dialogue with one another through the season of Advent. Use this time to slow down and not rush through the end of 2020, but rather, be intentional in the preparation for the season. No formal knowledge required, but you may want to have a Bible close by! If you wish to receive the Zoom link to attend, sign-up here. If you have any questions, please email Alyssa agkeifer@gmail.com. We look forward to journeying with you!

Sunday School always welcomes new friends to join our active groups. Zoom log-in info for the following online classes will be emailed at the end of each week. If you would like to be added to the distribution group or have questions about which class is right for your children, please email Karen at youthchatumc@optonline.net.

PreK / Early Elementary Sundays at 9:30am on Zoom. Last week, we learned how God cares about us so much and will never give up trying to find us if we’re lost and likewise, we should reach out to those missing from our groups. This week our topic is Pray and Play. We’ll get some advice on praying from some of our favorite Bible characters and answer some Bible trivia questions along the way.

Submerge (4th-8th grade) - Sundays at 10:30am on Zoom. We continue diving deeper into some familiar Bible stories with “13 Very Bad Days, and how God fixed them.” This week we’ll be back in the book of Acts to find out more about a character that made a brief appearance in last week’s story. Saul was so sure he knew what was right and what others were saying was so wrong. You might say he was already figuratively blind when one day he is struck literally blind. Tough day? Or a good example of how God can turn even the hardest heart and use us all. Bring a talent you have, a sheet of white paper, and have a Bible handy.

Submerge / Tween Time: Join us Thursday at 4:00pm on Zoom to hang out, play some games, connect and help each other thru this time of social distancing.

High School Discussion: Sundays at 11:45am on Zoom. We continue the unit on “MEANING – Why Are We Here?” and this week our session title is The Meaning of Stuff. People in every generation face the same temptation - the temptation to think that one’s life consists of one’s things. Usually our desire for “stuff” far outpaces our ability to be satisfied and constant acquisition only leaves us wanting more. But will the stuff of this world ever produce lasting meaning or will our desires only find fulfillment when they are directed towards the infinite and transcendent God?
This week’s Key verses: Matthew 6:19-21
