Because It's the Law
  • Motorists must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
  • Motorists must stop when they are behind a bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.
  • Motorists following or traveling alongside a school bus must also stop until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn, and all children have reached safety.
  • If physical barriers such as grassy medians, guide rails or concrete median barriers separate oncoming traffic from the bus, motorists in the opposing lanes may proceed without stopping.
  • Do not proceed until all the children have reached a place of safety.
Remember to...
  • be patient with the bus schedule; delays often occur as the new school year gets underway.
  • return and/or update your child's emergency forms with changes, including e-mail, telephone, and address(es). School Messenger notifications are made according to the information provided.
Opening Days

Thank you for your help in achieving a smooth opening for the school year. We look forward to an amazing year!

اهلا وسهلا Willkommen! Welkom!

No matter how you say it, we are pleased to welcome the newest members of our community to Dallastown Area School District:  Leen Albraik from Saudi Arabia, who is sponsored by American Field Service Intercultural Programs (AFS) ; Elias Kessner from Germany, who is sponsored by the Rotary Youth Exchange; Clemence Pierret from Belgium, who is sponsored by AYUSA International; and, Marc Szopinski from Germany, also sponsored by AFS.

These youth exchange programs bring students and host families together at the high school level. While the sponsor organizations are unique in their own way, the mission is the same as stated succinctly by AYUSA International: "To develop intercultural awareness and enhance global knowledge not only through education, but through experience."

Be sure to say hello (or مرحبا  or hallo) to Leen, Elias, Clemence, and Marc when you see them at sporting events, performances, science and cultural fairs, or perhaps at your neighbor's home.

For more information on being an exchange student or a host family, contact Walt Tilley at (717) 849-4127 or by email at: Rotary Youth Exchange or AFS Intercultural Programs or AYUSA International.

DAHS Class of 2022

Dallastown Area High School ninth graders, also known as the Class of 2022, were welcomed by  administration, faculty, staff, and LINK Crew mentors on Wednesday, August 22nd.

Students participated in a Welcome to High School Pep Rally and attended sessions focusing on high school transition topics.
Please Drive Carefully

The Dallastown Area School District secondary campus is busy with fall sports and marching band practice. Please observe speed limits and be aware of cross country runners and marching band participants on campus roads.

Thank you for caring about the safety of our students. We are very proud of our student athletes and musicians.

Have a Healthy School Year

The mission of the Dallastown Area School District nursing staff is to ensure a healthy school year for your child. Be reminded to notify your child's building nurse of any health changes with your child throughout the school year.

Also, important immunization regulations are in effect and notifications have been mailed home to parents/guardians of students enrolled on provisional status with incomplete immunizations. Your diligence to this important medical matter is appreciated.

And, while it's preferred that parents/guardians administer medication at home, we realize that medication may have to be administered during the school day. In accordance with Pennsylvania School Code 510, Title 22, Sec. 12.41, Dallastown Area School District  Policy No. 210, Pupils, Medication requires that medicine be brought to the nurse's office by the parent/guardian or another designated adult.

Medication orders and parental consents must be renewed at the beginning of each school year and shall be accompanied by a completed Medication Administration Consent and Licensed Prescriber's Medication Order Form, accessible on the School Nurse link of your child's school.

Dallastown school nurse practices follow the Pennsylvania Department of Health Guidelines for Pennsylvania Schools for the Administration of Medications and Emergency Care.

Have a healthy school year!
