Keeping DASD Students Safe

On Monday, January 14th, Dallastown Area School District launched its participation in
Safe2Say Something (S2SS), a youth vi olence prevention pro gram of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, in partnership with Sandy Hook Promise, as mandated under PA Act 44 of 2018.

The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others, especially through social media. An easy anonymous tip reporting of safety concerns through the S2SS system will help prevent violence and tragedies--to "say something" before it's too late.

It is the district's mission to provide a safe learning environment for students and staff in a culture of care that is empowered to share suspicion and concern any time student safety could be at risk. In the event a trusted adult cannot be contacted or anonymity is preferred, the S2SS tip line offers three reporting options:

1. Call #1-844-SAF2SAY (1-844-723-2729)

2. Web: www.safe2saypa.org

3. Download the App:  www.safe2saypa.org/download/

or App Store/Google Play search: Safe2Say Someth ing

DE and OV Named PA Distinguished Schools

Congratulations to Dallastown Elementary and Ore Valley Elementary schools for being named by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) as two of the state's 158 Title I Distinguished Schools during the PDE Improving Schools Conference held earlier this week.

The designation is based on achieving specified criteria developed by PDE. Dallastown Elementary was recognized for high achievement on state assessments during the previous testing year, while Ore Valley was recognized as a high reward school for outstanding growth over the past three years.

We applaud the students, staff, teachers, administrators, and parents/guardians for their collective support of the district's academic program--together we are inspiring and creating pathways for student success.
