LS RENOVATION AND UPGRADE PROJECT UPDATE
In mid-December, the Dallastown Area Board of School Directors opened bids for the renovation and upgrade of Loganville-Springfield Elementary School. After review with legal counsel, architects, and engineers during a Special Meeting on Thursday, December 20th, an
Intent to Award was offered to the successful bidders, pending required governmental approvals for project delivery.
In summary, general contracting, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical contracts awarded total $19,265,063., with additional estimated soft costs of $3,365,628.

Student Body Mass Index Results
Body Mass Index (BMI) results for all students will be mailed home on Monday, January 7th.

The Scientists Among Us
A tradition for 58 years, the Dallastown Area High School Science and Engineering Fair will be held Saturday, January 26th, and Sunday, January 27th, in the science wing of the high school.
The public is invited to view more than 100 student submissions on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the high school auditorium.
Dallastown Area High School students have a long history of county awards and opportunities to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair based on their award-winning projects at the school level. We encourage community members to join us--surely you will be impressed with the creative and scientific knowledge that the student projects display. |
DAEF Sweetheart Dance
Sponsored by the Dallastown Area Educational Foundation, the Annual DAEF Sweetheart Dance will be held Saturday, February 2nd, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Join Dallastown Area High School's Thespian Troupe 7973 for an evening of dinner and laughs with a performance of Alan Griffith's There's an App for That?
Held in the Dallastown Area High School cafeteria on Friday, February 8th, admission is $12 for adults; $10 for students and seniors; and, $9 for children 10 and under. Proceeds benefit the troupe's philanthropic initiatives.

Poetry Out Loud
Dallastown Area High School students participated in its 10th Annual School-Wide Poetry Out Loud (POL) competition, providing students an opportunity to interact with poetry in a personal and interpretive way, blending performance art with literacy skills and literary appreciation. Winners included senior Gabriel Hiestand in third place, junior Aeryn McClain in second place, and sophomore Katie Durgin in first place. Katie will advance to the regional Poetry Out Loud competition at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg in January. The event is free and open to the public.

Saving Lives
Dallastown Area High School students recently sponsored a blood drive during which 147 donors donated 85 pints of blood, potentially saving 255 lives in our local community. The goal of 100 units of blood was achieved with the support of students, teachers, and staff. For that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
