Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night

Dallastown Area School District provides various opportunities for parents and guardians to meet their child's teachers, tour the classrooms, learn about the academic programs, and become better acquainted with educational opportunities available to their student.

Access the Dallastown Area School District website calendar to locate your child's Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night.
It Takes a Village

Dallastown Area School District greatly appreciates the support of volunteers through the care, supervision, guidance, and routine interaction with students throughout the school day.

Returning volunteers should check the Approved Volunteer List for your name. This list can be found on www.dallastown.net under Human Resources. If you have questions concerning your clearances, contact your child's building secretary or the Human Resources Department at (717) 244-4021, Extension 4290. Volunteer clearances are valid for five years.

If you are new to the district, we welcome you and invite you to volunteer by completing the requirements of the Child Protective Services Law.

For additional information, access: I want to be a volunteer
Safety First

During the first few weeks of school, teachers and principals review and practice safety precautions. Examples: Bus evacuation drills, school building evacuations including responses to a threat, fire drills, and severe weather precautions.

We realize that these discussions can be sensitive. Please encourage your child to ask questions and/or talk to a trusted adult at school should he/she have any concerns.

Safety is our first priority.
Student Medical and Accident Insurance

For your consideration, information regarding student insurance covering accidents while in school and/or during interscholastic athletics or extracurricular activities is distributed at the beginning of the school year.

Also, Pennsylvania Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) provides health coverage for uninsured children and teens who are not eligible for or not enrolled in Medical Assistance.

For details, access: www.CHIPcoverspakids.com
Weather Delays/Early Dismissals/Closings

In the event of a weather delay, early dismissal or closing of school, Dallastown Area School District communicates through School Messenger, Twitter @dallastownSD, the website www.dallastown.net, and local TV and radio stations.

Be sure your child knows what to do and where to go during a weather or emergency situation. Also, be sure that current telephone numbers are on file with your child's school so that weather and emergency notifications reach you.

  • the right to privacy of personally identifiable information in the student's education records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent; and,
  • the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education concerning alleged failures by the school to comply with the requirements of FERPA.

Homecoming 2019

This year's Homecoming theme, A Gatsby Gathering, will take Dallastown Area High School students on a walk through Gatsby's garden and inside his mansion.

On Wednesday, October 3rd, the HS Student Council will host the highly-anticipated Powder Puff game at 7:00 p.m. when roles are switched and the high school girls play football while the high school football players cheer them on at Wildcat Stadium at the Dallastown American Legion Field. Some of the proceeds of the admission fee for this event benefit the HS Volunteer Club and its 2019-20 Support the Troops campaign.

Then, on Friday, October 11th, the community is invited to join students and families as festivities continue with the annual Homecoming football game. The Dallastown Wildcats host Spring Grove beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the stadium.

The week concludes on Saturday, October 12th, with the Homecoming dance and crowning of the queen and king. Family, friends, and community members are invited to view the decorated areas of the high school lobby and gymnasium from 6:00 p.m. to 6:35 p.m. Those observing the student promenade must be seated in the gymnasium by 6:40 p.m.; public events conclude at 8:00 p.m.
Honoring the Past and Present
While Building for the Future

The Dallastown Area Educational Foundation offers several ways to pay tributes to loved ones which also benefit our students: (1) Commemorative Bricks and (2) Courtyard of Honor Plaques.
Commemorative bricks, available for purchase at $50 each, are placed near the main entrance of the high school.

Proceeds fund scholarships awarded through the Dallastown Foundation Scholarship Committee

Together, we're Leaving a Legacy for Learning!

Engraved plaques, available for $150 each, are placed in the middle school's Courtyard of Honor to recognize veterans from each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.  Veterans Day is Monday, November 11th.

These tributes are permanent and will not be removed.

*Cumulative brick orders are processed after reaching a minimum of ten bricks .
