The Scientists Among Us

The 5 9th Annual Dallastown Area High School Science and Engineering Fair was held this past weekend with 12 7 projects entered from grades 7 through 12. Students earned $3,550 in cash awards and 75 students earned first or second place awards. All students will have the opportunity to compete in the York County Science and Engineering Fair in March.
 
The winners and their projects include Senior High Grand Champion Ibnat Meah for her submission, Engineering Plastic-Degrading E. coli by Utilizing I. sakaiensis DNA; Senior High Reserve Grand Champion Astha Ray for her submission, The Role of Cholesterol in Hantavirus Entry and Infection of Host Cells; Junior High Grand Champion Robert Nicholson for his submission, How do Varying Amounts of Creamer Affect the Cooling Rate of Coffee?; and, Junior High Reserve Grand Champion Catharine Lasher for her submission, Sanitizer Skepticism.

Join Dallastown Area High School's Thespian Troupe 7973 for an evening of dinner and laughs with a performance of Alan Griffith's There's an App for That?

Held in the Dallastown Area High School cafeteria on Friday, February 8th, admission is $12 for adults; $10 for students and seniors; and, $9 for children 10 and under. Proceeds benefit the troupe's philanthropic initiatives.

Let's Be Partners in the Fight 
 
Dallastown Area High School will host its 5th Annual Mini-THON beginning at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 1st. This fun-filled event for high school students inspires teamwork, leadership, and creativity while empowering them through philanthropy and service in the fight to conquer childhood cancer.

Students stay standing and active during the 12-hour overnight event to raise money and awareness for the Four Diamonds Cancer Research Foundation.

It's Time for Kindergarten
 
A Kindergarten Readiness Meeting for parents of incoming kindergarten students in the Dallastown Area School District has been scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 18th, at York Township Elementary School.

To be eligible, a child must turn five on or before August 31, 2019. The meeting provides information to parents regarding the academic and social expectations of children in the kindergarten program and provides an opportunity for parents to meet the kindergarten teachers. The meeting is for kindergarten parents only.

Senior Class Parent Post Prom Party planning is underway, and the community is invited to Support Our Seniors! There's a way for everyone to support the Dallastown Area High School Class of 2019.

The Senior Class Parent Post Prom Party is being held Saturday, April 27th, at Dallastown Area High School. All seniors are invited at no cost--prom attendance is not required. So, come out and support the Class of 2019 fun-draisers!
