Remember to be patient with the bus schedule;
delays often occur as the new school year gets underway.

Because It's the Law

  • Motorists must stop at least 10 feet away from school buses that have their red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
  • Motorists must stop when they are behind a bus, meeting the bus or approaching an intersection where a bus is stopped.
  • Motorists following or traveling alongside a school bus must also stop until the red lights have stopped flashing, the stop arm is withdrawn, and all children have reached safety.
  • If physical barriers such as grassy medians, guide rails or concrete median barriers separate oncoming traffic from the bus, motorists in the opposing lanes may proceed without stopping.
  • Do not proceed until all the children have reached a place of safety.
DASD Summer Lunch Bunch

This Dallastown Area School District Summer Lunch Bunch spent their summer Mondays through Thursdays preparing healthy lunches for community members ages 18 and under.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally-funded program of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered in Pennsylvania by the Department of Education. With an average of 30 guests per day in the Dallastown Elementary cafeteria, this bunch served a lot more than bananas. From pizza to peanut butter pockets, fruit, salad, and much more, no guest went home hungry. We extend a Wildcat thank you to Chartwells K-12, the Dallastown Area High School Honor Society greeters, and the Summer Lunch Bunch for spending their summer break serving our Dallastown community.
Have a Healthy School Year

The mission of the Dallastown Area School District nursing staff is to ensure a healthy school year for your child. Be reminded to notify your child's building nurse of any health changes with your child throughout the school year.

Also, important immunization regulations are in effect and notifications have been mailed home to parents/guardians of students enrolled on provisional status with incomplete immunizations. Your diligence to this important medical matter is appreciated.

And, while it's preferred that parents/guardians administer medication at home, we realize that medication may have to be administered during the school day. In accordance with Pennsylvania School Code 510, Title 22, Sec. 12.41, Dallastown Area School District  Policy No. 210, Pupils, Medication  requires that medicine be brought to the nurse's office by the parent/guardian or another designated adult.

Medication orders and parental consents must be renewed at the beginning of each school year and shall be accompanied by a completed Medication Administration Consent and Licensed Prescriber's Medication Order Form, accessible on the School Nurse link of your child's school.

Dallastown school nurse practices follow the Pennsylvania Department of Health Guidelines for Pennsylvania Schools for the Administration of Medications and Emergency Care.

Have a healthy school year!
Please Come In

As we return to school for the 2019-20 year, Dallastown Area School District remains focused on its top priority of safety and security for students, staff, and visitors. We remind the community that all visitors will be required to produce a valid photo ID prior to admittance to a district building.

The Raptor Visitor Management System retains visitor history providing easy retrieval for subsequent visitor access. Due to class schedules and other school business, it is suggested that visitors call ahead or schedule an appointment to meet with a teacher or administrator.
Congratulations, Coach Gable!

Dallastown Area High School Coach Deb Gable was recently named Coach of the Year by Special Olympics PA, during its recent Leadership Awards banquet.

In addition to coaching tennis, her encouragement of students to participate in, and her support of, the Unified track and field program, Polar Plunge, and Spring Games are inspiring. " Deb truly embodies what it means to be a leader in the community. In every sense of the word, Deb uplifts her community and her team."

Thank you, Coach Gable, for your advocacy for fitness, exercise, nutrition, and inclusiveness.
