LAST DAY FOR COLLECTION IS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH!

Way to shop, SLC!!

Thanks to your gracious donations, we have almost reached our goal of completing 100 school kits! There are a couple of items we still need.

To complete 100 school kits we will need:

  • 134 notebooks (70-sheet, wide- or college-ruled paper)
  • 20 blunt scissors

If you are unable to purchase items, you may donate toward the purchase of needed school supplies by clicking on the button.

Envelopes are also available in the Narthex. Please write "LWR School Kits" in the memo of your check.

We will be assembling the 100 school kits during our Engage Celebration

on Sunday, September 13th.

Come ready to do God's work with your hands!!

Pentecost 15 | September 6th

This Sunday we move into chapter 18 of Matthew. In this chapter is the only place where Jesus explicitly refers to “the church.” Jesus’ instruction of how to handle conflict in the church has always been good counsel but also helps us to know that Jesus anticipated that his group of sinners made saints, would encounter problems. This Sunday we will once again stand in awe of God’s mercy in Christ and ask for the Holy Spirit to help us extend that same mercy to our brothers and sisters.

Sermon:

“Binding and Loosing”

 Pastor Bill Crabtree

Readings:

Psalm 119:31-41

Romans 13:8-14

Matthew 18:15-22

First Sunday of the Month!

We will collect donations of non-perishable food items for the Central Kitsap Food Bank on Sunday, September 6th.

Help spruce up the grounds before Engage Sunday!

Join us September 1st-12th and help with sprucing up the grounds at SLC before Engage Sunday.

Tasks will include weeding and deadheading the lilies and other summer bloomers. We will start at the Gathering Place and work our way towards the main building.

Tools and a map (to mark the area you've done) will be available to the left of the GP entrance.

Come when you can!

Thank you, David Soine, for preparing our gutters for the Fall season!

If anyone is good at patching and painting walls, the classroom hallway could also use a little bit of sprucing up before Sunday School starts.

PB’s Fall Sunday Morning Class

“Going Back to Confirmation”

Starts Up Sunday September 20th

Ever wish you could do "Confirmation" over again? Or maybe you didn't grow up Lutheran and feel like you missed out on the experience? You are not alone! Pastor Bill has heard your requests, and this fall, he is taking us back to school—in the best way possible.

Our Fall Sunday morning class will feature a deep dive into Luther’s Small Catechism, the tried and true little book used for centuries as the basis for Confirmation.  Whether you want a refresher or are learning it for the very first time, this class is for you. Can’t come to the mid-week Foundations classes this fall? Participating in all these classes will work for the instruction needed to become a mission partner (member) at SLC.

Why the Catechism?

When Martin Luther toured Germany in 1529, he realized many Christians knew very little about the Bible or core convictions of Christianity. He wrote the Small Catechism as a simple, powerful tool to change that. If last year's classes felt a bit too heavy, don't worry! This year, we are focusing on the core essentials in a way that is assessable to all!

Stay tuned for kick off information for a new Sunday education opportunity for young adults and families!

We NEED volunteers to help care

for our Sanctuary during the week!

We previously had one volunteer who faithfully cared for the sanctuary after each worship service. After she stepped down, we moved to a sign‑up system with a team of volunteers. Participation has been low, and the sanctuary isn’t consistently being cared for. Our office staff can’t add this to their already full workload, so…

We need a longtime volunteer to assist with caring for our Sanctuary one day a week.

Tasks include:

  • Recycling extra Bulletins and Beacons found in pews
  • Checking Attendance books, refilling, and bringing completed sheets to office
  • Restocking tissue packs and pencils
  • Removing any trash left in seats

It typically takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to care for the Sanctuary. Some volunteers have even popped in to do it right after Hearty Meals!

Interested? Contact slc@silverdalelutheran.org and admin@silverdalelutheran.org or visit the office.
