As part of the City's St. Charles County road maintenance agreement, concrete slabs are being replaced on Knaust Road, from the west City border to the intersection of Knaust Road and Weiss Road. The work has begun and will take place in the eastbound lanes of Knaust Road and the intersection of Knaust Road/Cottleville Pkwy/Weiss Road. Expect slow downs and delays during the construction.

Gutermuth Road Phase 3 Improvement Project Continues

**Utility relocation is now complete and crews have begun to pour concrete. Find alternate routes and expect longer delays.

Phase 3 of Gutermuth Road is a St. Charles County road project, however, it has been a partnership between the City of Cottleville and the County Government. The third and final phase of roadway improvements now underway was initially delayed when the construction bids came in over budget; this put the project on hold but following continued advocacy from City of Cottleville officials, the project design was revised and rebid in an effort to cut costs. These efforts paid off and the revised project scope received competitive bids and the project was awarded to Gershenson Construction and Notice to Proceed was issued in August of 2024.

The Gutermuth Road Phase 3 improvements will feature many safety enhancements such as new driving pavement, lane widening, flattening of hills, straightening of curves, curb and gutter stormwater systems, and a new 14-foot wide multi-use path on the south side of the road.

For more information about this road improvement project please visit: Gutermuth road phase 3

New 10 Home Lot Subdivision Recently Approved on Nearly 24 Acres

Lombardo Homes received the initial green light from the City of Cottleville to continue their plans for a new 10 lot residential subdivision to be named Villages at Twin Creeks offering 3+ car side entry garages and a price point close to $1.5 million each on the nearly 24 acres of land north of St. Charles Street and west of Crooked Creek adjacent to the Cottleville Trails subdivision. The tentative subdivision name is a direct reference to Crooked Creek and Dardenne Creek which the property borders. The overall density is 2.4 acres per home and the applicant has agreed to a binding development agreement locking in the maximum of 10 residential single family home lots at the request of the Mayor & Board of Aldermen.

The site will feature a lake and Lombardo Homes works with DJM Ecological Services to properly construct their basins as well as planting appropriate plants that have very deep stable root systems. The applicant and property owner (a Cottleville Resident) requested two readings in February so they could close on the property; however, their journey began back in November when they initially submitted their application for 11 lots and no binding development agreement. From the initial application for 11 lots to the 10 lot version a total of 4 public hearings were advertised and held providing the community with the opportunity to ask questions or express concerns. Some of the next steps in the development process include: Corp of Engineers Permit, Floodplain Development Permit, DNR Land Disturbance Permit, No-Rise Certificate, Grading Plans, and Constructions Plans are all required before home construction can begin.

The City is required to have a Development Review Process for residents, land owners and developers. Once the City receives a development proposal/application, the law requires that the City place that proposal on a meeting agenda (for consideration by the Planning & Zoning Commission and/or the Board of Aldermen).

For more information on Lombardo Homes please visit: Lombardo Missouri Homes, or for more information about the City's Development Review Process please contact City Hall, 636.498.6565 or visit our website at www.cityofcottleville.com.

Mosquito

Information

Summertime brings fun in the sun, but it also means pesky critters which can be annoying, and even dangerous. Cottleville contracts with St. Charles County Environmental Service for Mosquito control. If you need to request additional mosquito control in your neighborhood, please submit your request using this online form.

Mosquitoes can develop from eggs to adults in as little as seven days and very little water is needed to become a home to mosquitos. Even a tray under a flowerpot can hatch mosquitoes. It is important to actively remove standing water from your property.  You play an important role in reducing the mosquito population!

  1. Once a week, empty and scrub, turn over, cover, or throw out items that hold water, such as tires, buckets, planters, toys, pools, birdbaths, flowerpots, or trash containers. Check inside and outside your home.
  2. Tightly cover water storage containers (buckets, cisterns, rain barrels) so mosquitoes cannot get inside to lay eggs.
  3. If you have items in your yard that tend to collect water, either cover them or lean them up against something so the water will drain easily.

Cottleville Entered into

an Agreement with St. Charles County to Allow for Blueway Bank Stabilization

The overall purpose of the bank stabilization and channelization is to extend to the upstream portion of Dardenne Creek the ability to navigate the creek via kayak and/or canoe creating a new leg of the Dardenne Blueway. This is also in conjunction with the Dardenne Greenway Trail which is intended to extend further west to Dardenne Prairie's Blue Bird Park. The portion that traverses Cottleville is in the "middle" but is also the longest segment of the new extension. St. Charles County's Parks Department hopes to have construction of the bank stabilization and channelization begin this year and completed by spring/summer of 2025. This is a joint effort between the adjoining cities and county governments with the goal of adding new outdoor recreational opportunities for area residents to enjoy.  Cottleville Zip Codes

All City residents and businesses should use "Cottleville", Mo as their City identification, followed by their current zip code, as their permanent address on utility bills and all other mail.

*Taxes collected and dispersed are often based upon a City zip code.

For example, if you are a Cottleville resident and are currently using "St. Peters, Mo" or St. Charles, Mo or O'Fallon, Mo as your address, you MAY be paying a higher tax rate on your leased vehicle, purchased vehicles, phone bill, utility bills, online purchases, cable bill, gas bills etc.

As a result, you may lose money AND the City may also lose the tax revenue to the wrong City list on that bill or purchase. These taxes are used to provide vital services such as parks, police, street repair, street lights, and so on.

It is important to note this advisory by the United States Postal Service:

To avoid mail delivery delays, you must always use the correct City and zip code on your mail.

Cottleville, MO 63366- Cottleville Resident Mail Delivery

Cottleville, MO 63376 - Cottleville Resident Mail Delivery

Cottleville, MO 63304 - Cottleville Resident Mail Delivery

Cottleville, MO 63338 - Cottleville P. O. Boxes Only

Please report any errors or undelivered mail to your postal carrier or local postmaster. Request they make the correction.

Did you know? The City is Required to Have a Development Review Process

The City is required to have a City Development Review Process for

residents, land owners and developers. Once the City receives a

development proposal/application, the law requires that the City place

that proposal on a meeting agenda (for consideration by the Planning &

Zoning Commission and/or the Board of Aldermen). However, merely

being placed on an agenda does not guarantee that the proposal will be

approved. Instead, the City reviews the proposal to determine whether

it complies with the City Code.

Throughout a development or application review process it is critical

that voting members of the public entity remain impartial and reserve

their final decision until it is time to vote. The primary reason for

this is to ensure each applicant is granted their due process for

consideration by the governing body. It is equally important for any

person from the community who has questions, concerns, or general

opinions about a given proposal that they communicate directly with

the City through the designated communication channels such as phone,

email, written correspondence, or in-person statements at a public

meeting. Taking to social media to share one's thoughts and opinions

may be therapeutic and even garner like minded sentiment, but there is

no guarantee that any decision makers from the governing body will

become aware of such online statements.

As with any important topic, it is always best to research multiple

sources for information and in the case of city government operations

and activities that would include directing one's questions and

concerns to the City government. Your elected officials can assist

with this process if you ask them to and City staff are another

resource for information and facts on topics and proposals dealing

with local government.

Hosting a

Special Event in Cottleville?

The City often gets requests for events to be held in Cottleville on City property, in a City park or using City infrastructure such as trails, sidewalks or City streets. These can include festivals, organized parades, runs, walks, trunk or treat, car shows, block parties and more. Similar to all of our neighboring cities, a special event application and permit is required, which includes providing a liability insurance certificate listing the City of Cottleville as an additional insured. This assists in protecting yourself, your organization or business, your tax dollars and City infrastructure. Approved permitted events can be featured in our enews, social media, city calendar, etc.

Recycling Buzz:

"I feel like it should be recyclable."

Do you ever say those words? If so, you might be wish-cycling.

We appreciate the enthusiasm of our many avid recyclers who are using the new Recycling Cart. You're doing a great job! We know it's not easy to learn a new system. We also know well-intentioned efforts can lead to placing items in your Recycling Cart that we just can't recycle. Spring cleaning time has led to some unusual objects in the Recycling Cart, including cut-up metal lawn furniture and other various metal objects.

These items seem like they should be recycled, but metal furniture falls under "wish-cycling" and we can't recycle it in our Recycling Cart program. (Tip: Didion Orf, located near our Recycle City on Ecology Drive, accepts many metal items for drop-off).

No amount of wishing will help us recycle items we can't accept in our new recycling program. BEE WISE, RECYCLE only the following items:

  • Paper & cardboard (*not shredded paper)
  • Tin and aluminum cans (*not other metal items)
  • Plastic containers (*not plastic bags)
  • Glass jars and bottles

A reminder to ensure you receive adequate service, the Solid Waste Department reminds all residents of the following collection guidelines:
