CWS Rotary Dog Show's Best of Show Winner is.....

An Australian cattle dog named Fancy out of Ballwin, Mo won Best of

Show recently at the CWS Rotary Club "Fun for Paws Dog Show" in Legacy Park. She is four and half years old and her owner Taylor says Fancy is her best friend. After her time serving in the military and

experiencing some struggles upon returning home, Fancy helped turn

Taylor's life around. Fancy won Best of Show as well as Best Listener.

She won best listener by performing sit, stay, come, high five, and

whispering to her owner! Taylor named Fancy after the song Fancy by Reba McEntire. She is trained to recognize that song and gets very excited when she hears it! Taylor is employed by a doggie daycare and boarding establishment.  Judges left to right:

Sheriff Scott Lewis, Mayor Bob Ronkoski, Joann Leykam, St. Charles County Director of Administration.

New Elected Officials Take Oath Of Office

At a recent Board of Aldermen meeting, Alderman

Michael Guccione Ward 1, and Alderman Mike Krekeler Ward 2, were sworn in by Amy Lewis, City Clerk to serve a two year term as Cottleville Aldermen. Welcome!

Don Buchheit receives a standing ovation when recognized for his 35

Years of Service to Cottleville!

At the April Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Bob Ronkoski presented Alderman Don Buchheit an award plaque for his many years of service to the citizens of Cottleville. Don's service began back in 1987 when he was appointed to fill a vacant term on Cottleville's Board of Trustees and was officially elected the following year as a Trustee. After Cottleville became a fourth class city, he would continue on to be elected as Alderman. Don has resided in Cottleville since 1974 and operates Buchheit Supply, a family owned business. Four generations of his family call Cottleville home. Don has been elected by his peers as President of the Board for most of those years as well. During his award presentation, Don made remarks of all the changes he has seen over the years including; farm fields changing into subdivisions, no local gas stations or grocery stores and police response times of 15 minutes to 1 hour prior to having our own police department. Don has worked with as many as 9 Cottleville Mayors/Chairmen and 30 different Trustees/Aldermen along the way as well as supporting staff without hesitation. Mayor Ronkoski stated,

"Don has been a great mentor for new board members including himself. Don is a father of 2 with 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He and his wife Barb have been married nearly 53 years. Buchheit Lake, located in Scott A. Lewis Park, was dedicated to Don in August of 2016 after his 30 years of service."

Alderman Buchheit received a standing ovation from all those present

at the meeting. Thank you Don Buchheit for all you have done to make Cottleville what it is today! A great place to live, work and play!

Park Improvements & Added Public Parking On Way!

The City will soon be seeking RFP's for paving and stripping the gravel parking lot at the multi sports field in the rear of Legacy Park. Design work continues at this time. Upon completion of the project, resealing and restriping the existing Legacy Park parking lot will be done as well.

Also, the City has completed design work and is currently seeking RFP's to add irrigation at the Kochanski Multi Sports Field this year. A contractor has been selected to add irrigation to Hansen Park and work should begin in late May, weather permitting.

Design work continues to add an approximate additional 65 paved parking spaces in and around City Hall and Legacy Park. A RFP will be used to select a contractor in early summer. In addition, the owner plans to provide a new public parking lot on the west side of Frankie Martin's Garden with access from St. Charles Street. This lot should add approximately 50 more spaces.

Area projects continue:

Gutermuth Road & Overpass

MoDOT and the St. Charles County Road Board have finished constructing an overpass on Page/364 at Gutermuth. Landscaping with fountain grasses and liriope are planned to be added to all roundabouts in 2022. The "Gutermuth" sign with the City of Cottleville logo has arrived. A contractor has been selected to install the sign and lighting to the overpass in 2022. We are on the list awaiting their availability. The St. Charles County Road Board has also dedicated funding to straighten and widen Gutermuth Road on to Motherhead Road including an 8 foot wide multi-use trail to be constructed on both sides of Gutermuth Road. Design and right-of- way acquisition continues at this time which has delayed phase 3 of the project. For more information: Gutermuth road phase 3

Hwy N Overlay and New Sidewalk

The City has partnered with MoDOT and the St. Charles County Road Board to provide improvements to Highway N between Mannino's Market and Mid Rivers Mall Drive. Plans include an asphalt overlay, striping and a new sidewalk on the SOUTH side of Highway N. Design and right-of-way work is complete. St. Charles County Road Board has selected a contractor and notice has been given to proceed with construction. Weather permitting, the tentative project completion date is fall of 2022. For more information: Highway N Improvements

Jim Hennessey Trail Extension onto Manors of Meadowlake

At resident requests, the trail and pathway along Highway N, now known as the Jim Hennessey Trail, will be extended to the Manors of Meadowlake subdivision at the western edge of the City limits. Right- of- way work continues. The City then plans to seek more competitive bids through a 2nd RFP process and should select a contractor this spring or summer. The trail is part of the Dardenne Greenway and improvements will include an 8 foot wide asphalt trail extension from Dardenne Farms.

Last month, portions of the new guardrails were installed along the NORTH side of Highway N between the road way and the Jim Hennessey Trail in areas between Colonial Green and Winterbrooke subdivisions. The City is seeking additional bids to install more guardrails.

Storm Water Improvements on Dardenne Farms Drive & Lac Terre Court

At resident requests, due to deteriorated storm water pipe and or lack of a drainage system design right-of-way work is complete in an effort to make storm water improvements at the areas of Dardenne Farms Drive AND Lac Terre Court. A contractor will soon be selected through a bid process most likely in May with construction scheduled to begin this spring or early summer, weather permitting.

New Sidewalk and Trail Extension to be Added at

Columbus Pointe Entrance.

The City plans to provide improvements to the Columbus Pointe Subdivision Entrance at Norgate Court with a new sidewalk/trail extension on the east side of Gutermuth Road. Design work is complete while right-of-way acquisition continues. A contractor will then be selected through a bid process. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring or summer, weather permitting.

Reporting

Potholes, Street Slab & Sidewalk Repairs

In 2021, the City did a massive street slab replacement project throughout the City in area subdivisions. However, with the winter weather thawing and all the salt added to City roadways, more pot holes and erosion have appeared. Slab replacement and repairs will continue in 2022 within the City of Cottleville starting in Madison Park & Timberwood Farms subdivisions. A list is already being made in an effort to be ready when crews are staffed, available, asphalt can be laid and concrete can be poured. You may report slab(s), pothole(s), or sidewalk(s) in need of repair now or at any time, please contact [email protected] or 636-498-6565 dial 9.
