Then & Now:
The Doctor Baltzer House

This multi story, yellow, Victorian style home at 5337 Highway N, dates back to 1892. The home was restored in approximately 1987 by Gerald and Georgette Bergen. The Bergens purchased the nearly condemned home for $14,000 shortly after their marriage and began gutting and restoring the home. In the process of restoring the home, the Bergens found old bottles, newspapers and doctors equipment. The home was originally built by Doctor Herman Baltzer, a German immigrant. After graduation in 1875, Dr. Baltzer married Eva Hartman and later set up his practice in Cottleville. The small yellow wood sided building with mud walls next to the home served as his examination room and is still standing today.

4th of July Regulations

As we prepare to celebrate our Country's Independence Day, we need to remember the City's regulations related to discharging fireworks. The City allows fireworks to be discharged beginning June 20th and continuing until July 5th.  They are allowed to be discharged until 10 pm Sunday through Thursday and until 11 pm on Friday and Saturday.
Please remember the importance of safety and proper handling of the fireworks. Be considerate of your neighbors with the direction they are discharged. Fireworks shall not be discharged in a negligent manner and the debris left behind should be disposed of properly.

Attention Cottleville Residents! 2020 Census
Your Response Matters!

Have you completed your 2020 census at
The US has counted its population every 10 years since 1790. Census results help determine how billions of dollars in federal funding flow into states and communities each year.  The results also determine how many seats in Congress each state gets.  When you respond to the US Census Bureau, your answers are kept anonymous.  They are only used to produce statistics.  Getting a complete and accurate count in 2020 requires everyone's help.
