Coffee Hour Hosts

We are looking for hosts to set up and clean up after coffee hour after the service on Sundays. The coffee is already made, the individually wrapped treats are available in the small kitchen, and we have all the necessary condiments; so there is nothing to bring but yourself.

Please consider signing up for one or more Sundays. The sign-up sheet will be out on the coffee table on Sundays or in the church hallway during the week.
Thank you!
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Note

Rev. Dave will be on vacation through Sunday, June 20th. During that time, please contact Deacon Bill Rimkus at (708) 705-5383 with any pastoral care or spiritual concerns.
Please notify the clergy or church office of a hospitalization, pastoral emergency or death.
LAST CALL! David E. Weaver IV
Memorial Outreach Fund

David E. Weaver IV was the son of
Father David Weaver, long-time rector at Emmanuel. His life was tragically cut short in an accident in 2002. The David E. Weaver IV Endowment Fund was established by the parish to honor his memory by funding grants to worthy youth programs and organizations in the LaGrange area.

It is that time of year to nominate any youth groups or organizations that you may know of that could use some extra funding. If you can pass on an application form to that group, we would be very grateful- or let the committee know via the office. The application form can be found on the website and online HERE; organizations can check out the E-News via our website if you or they do not have access. Applications are due by June 11; recipients to be selected by the second week of July.

Thank you!

Emmanuel Pipe Organ Project

Music Notes

Our Casavant 3062 is finally complete.

“Show & Tell” Organ Afternoon Tea Party

Huge thanks to the Pipe Organ Committee for the delicious treats at the party last weekend. Also, thanks to George for explaining and demonstrating the difference between French and German pipe organ trills and twiddles in the mid-20th century!

We celebrated our Pipe Organ renovation project and have raised more than 75% of the funds needed.

Our Casavant 3062 organ was originally designed and built in 1970 for our space and acoustics. Our fundraising will continue when we embark on a new season of fundraising concerts beginning in the fall with our official re-dedication event featuring renowned organist Clive Driskill-Smith. Please visit our website for full details of our upcoming programs, or click on the photo for the Concert Flyer.
Sounds in the Sanctuary Series 2021-22 Concert Schedule:
  • Clive Driskell-Smith - Saturday, 9/25
  • Jay Warren (the silent movie guy) – Friday, 10/29
  • Patricia Barber (Jazz trio) plus LT Big Band - Friday, 1/21/22
  • Kaia string quartet plus LT Chamber Group – Friday, 3/11/22

POP Dedications

Please click on the plaque at left to review the POP recognition plaque arrangement/wording. If we have misspelled your name, or omitted your dedication or if you have any suggestions please call Judy in the office (708) 352-1275 or email admin@eeclg.org Once finalized, we will have the plaques engraved and in situ ready for unveiling at our September re-dedication Clive Driskill-Smith event. We also have the dedicated David Clark plaque which we are in consultation with Diane. Paper versions are on the hall table for you also.

Thank you!

The Pipe Organ Project has earned hundreds of dollars from your Amazon Smile purchases!

Thank you to all who have made these purchases with Friends of Casavant 3062 nominated - literally every penny helps! Don't forget to continue to use Amazon Smile and add Friends of Casavant 3062 as your chosen charity.
Wacky Weeders' Garden Gathering

Please join us on Sunday, June 13th after the service for another wacky weeding experience! We really value all the help and the gardens look so much better for it. We will also gather on Wednesday evenings at 5pm over the summer and into the fall. We have a plan for the grounds which should make the gardens easier to manage over time and together we can get much work done and still able to enjoy some camaraderie too! Please bring your gloves, chosen tools and kneeler cushions. There is no commitment, just join us as you are able.

Thank you!
Anti-Racist Discussions

Our new anti-racism interest group has decided to begin with a summer book study of Waking Up White, and Finding Myself in the Story of Race by Debby Irving. We invite anyone to join us, and will even provide a copy of the book! Just let Dorren or Rev. Dave know.

Our next meeting will be on Sunday, June 27th after church.
Garage Sale

We are pleased to announce that Emmanuel will again be having our garage sale on Friday and Saturday August 27th & 28th. We will need volunteers to work the sale, help with set up and packing up afterwards. The garage sale has always been a great contributor to the parish budget and a fun time to work together as a community.

We are now accepting donations which can be brought to the church and put in the classroom off of Memorial Hall. All large donations need to be discussed and approved by Penny Longo ((708) 275-5028) before dropping off.

We encourage the following donations: Furniture in good condition, good quality housewares, working appliances, yard tools, rugs, puzzles, games, books, jewelry, linens, bikes, toys, tools, crafts and holiday decorations.

This year we are not accepting: Plush animals, clothes, shoes, sets of china, dolls, ice skates, sports shoes of any kind, helmets, skis, entertainment centers, TVs, stereo equipment, and large bookcases.

Thank you, in advance, for your support of this important Emmanuel Ministry. Please contact Penny Longo with any questions.

Thank you!

Wishing the following a
very Happy Birthday
for this week in June:

Anita S, Michael C, Christina A, Danielle V, Wayne S, Margaret C, Gavin S, Casey S, Ada D

And we wish Penny and Matt L. a very Happy 30th Wedding Anniversary!

Saint of the Week:
Barnabas the Apostle

11 June NT

"Joseph, a Levite, born in Cyprus, whom the apostles called Barnabas (son of encouragement), sold a field he owned, brought the money, and turned it over to the apostles." (Acts 4:36f). This is the first mention we have of Barnabas.
His new name fits what we know of his actions. When Saul (or Paul) came to Jerusalem after his conversion, most of the Christians there wanted nothing to do with him. They had known him as a persecutor and an enemy of the Church. But Barnabas was willing to give him a second chance. He looked him up, spoke with him, and brought him to see the other Christians, vouching for him. Later, Paul and Barnabas went on a missionary journey together, taking Mark with them. Part way, Mark turned back and went home.
When Paul and Barnabas were about to set out on another such journey, Barnabas proposed to take Mark along, and Paul was against it, saying that Mark had shown himself undependable. Barnabas wanted to give Mark a second chance, and so he and Mark went off on one journey, while Paul took Silas and went on another. Apparently Mark responded well to the trust given him by the "son of encouragement," since we find that Paul later speaks of him as a valuable assistant (2 Tim 4:11; see also Col 4:10 and Phil 24).
